I recall reading or hearing of research to determine the level of understanding of opponents political arguments by conservatives and leftists/liberals.
The research, as I recall, showed a list of policy questions, and asked the recipient, who was self identified, as conservative or liberal/leftist, to give the opposite sides arguments on each policy question.
My understanding was that conservatives consistently understood and knew the opposite sides arguments, while liberal/leftists were ignorant of the conservative arguments.
I have been looking for the source of this research, but have not found any.
Is this research a myth, or is there an actual source?

This has always been a given. Ask any liberal to explain “trickle down economics” and they will babble on with pretzel logic and other nonsense, never knowing that it is a trick question, as the term is meaningless. Stupid is easy to recognize, and almost impossible to cure.
Yes you are so correct, and many are here leaving slime trails on the walls on a regular basis to do their best to make our stomachs turn as only liberal slugs know how.

Yes, but too often that doesn’t matter. Conservatives also have to win in the court of public opinion.
Many of the trolls are, in fact, paid to disrupt. Others are bots, which are programmed to scan forums and post set replies to keywords.
In the 2016 election, many bots posted on forums, to the point that they comprised the majority of posters on some sites. The bots were 60% or more pushing Hillary and the leftist agenda.
I suspect Soros pays for a lot of botting and trolling.

We have to listen to it all the time.
On shows as guests, they holler over everyone so that nobody can hear but one side, Theirs. They are afraid of logical thought and free speech.

I’d say that most liberals are not very religious and don’t accept the total depravity of mankind. They think society can continually be improved by science, technology and intellect. Thousands of years of history seem to be irrelevant to them. Too many people demanding individual freedom works against their agenda.
They always say, just like with the latest economic bubble...
