The bridge was supposed to last for more than 100 years and withstand a Category 5 hurricane. Instead it came crashing down on people occupied cars within days of its construction.
Celebrated leading visionary bridge engineer Atorod Azizinamini, whose ABC (Accelerated Bridge Construction) technology was used to build the bridge that collapsed yesterday on Florida International Universitys campus, was named an Obama era Department of Transportation Champion of Change in 2015.
The event in which Azizinaminif was awarded Champion of Change status was webcast live at whitehouse.gov/live, no longer online.

Obama is loathesome but not everything revolves around politics
Quite true....S Florida isn’t part of the good ol US of A.
A student was struck by a car and killed a year or so ago so they built the pedestrian bridge - for $40 million! Then even more people were killed. Please, let’s let government solve all our problems. What could possibly go wrong?
Unless I’m reading this wrong, this guy had nothing directly to do with the Florida bridge. He poneered then ABC method used to build it, and countless others in the U.S. Might as well blame the Weight Brothers for every plane crash.
Bttt.

Sean Anthony is a bot.
Yeah. ...and the claim is that he came up with the general design used, not the specific design, nor construction nor implementation.
Fact is the bridge collapsed being that it couldn’t support its weight. Yes, I would say that is a design flaw.
This off site bridge construction has been used for overpasses in Wisconsin a number of times successfully.
I hadn’t seen the 40 million figure, just 14.2. Source for that?
It may be the specs were wrong for the installation portion of the bridge...which would indeed be part of the design.
Affirmative action engineering.

You beat me to it.
I’d say “Champion of Crushing American Citizens into Bloody Pulp”. Typical of nobama. Losers tend to congregate.
Can't deny America is the Land of Opportunity.
Can't deny America is the Land of Opportunity.
And my two engineers have been stymied at every turn because they aren’t minority or women.
Thats ok, the articles it posts are usually good.
