The bridge was supposed to last for more than 100 years and withstand a Category 5 hurricane. Instead it came crashing down on people occupied cars within days of its construction.
Celebrated leading visionary bridge engineer Atorod Azizinamini, whose ABC (Accelerated Bridge Construction) technology was used to build the bridge that collapsed yesterday on Florida International Universitys campus, was named an Obama era Department of Transportation Champion of Change in 2015.
The event in which Azizinaminif was awarded Champion of Change status was webcast live at whitehouse.gov/live, no longer online.

Affirmative action engineering.
That looks like an Iranian name. No problem with that per se, but during the Obola years, Valerie Jarret may have been dabbling in other projects besides being Puppetmaster for the president. Hmmm.. If so, it will all come out during the lawsuits.
From afar, Florida is looking like a failed state. It lacks the abilities and the level of civilized populace to function. And the weather isn't helping.
Hope & Change!
Change you can believe in. Just can't walk across and live.
Jury is still out on whether it was a design or construction problem.
I see this “father” of the bridge was involved with his “methodology” in the newly completed Tappan Zee bridge. I’ll keep that in mind, next trip over the Hudson.
South Florida is very different from the rest of the State...

Change was in the air.............and now it’s laying on the
ground. Sad.
Yes, to be fair why not wait to pin the blame until some facts are known? Yes, I know this is FR but...
FIU's Atorod Azizinamini recognized as White House Transportation of Change feat. Carlos Duart
Atlas Shrugged.
That's a great moniker and more politically acceptable than the engineering term we used to use years ago.
My structural engineering professor was Egyptian. Very smart and extremely funny!

Obama legacy, collapsed bridge and plane load of money for Iran.
They let Yanni design and build bridges?
Man, it would be an beautiful action if DJT pushed through a beautiful, privately funded BRIDGE/ESCALATOR for the liberal FIU campus.
And when he cuts the ribbon to open it as he kicks off his 2020 re-election effort for Florida, he could note that the failed bridge was built and designed by a hero of failed Oval Office occupier Obama.
But I heard it was because of Trump’s changes to building standards. I’m so confused.
