Todays Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
Tired of all this Winning yet? President Trump appeared at the Gridiron Dinner in Washington last night, and told a series of hilarious jokes that the audience, filled with about 90% humorless, hate-filled liberals from the fake news media, didnt catch. Thats ok, because the joke, as usual in this Administration, is on them. Here are a couple of my favorites:
As Im sure youve seen, were now riding very high in the polls, which is hard to believe considering I never get any good press. But, I just hit 50 in the Rasmussen poll. A lot of people said I wouldnt be able to do so well after losing my so-called chief strategist. But somehow, were still doing great without Omarosa.
You, The New York Times, are an icon. Im a New York icon, youre a New York icon. And the only difference is, I still own my buildings.
And finally, It might be hard for you to believe, but I do love gatherings like these. They give you a chance to socialize with members of the opposition party, its very important. And its also great to see some Democrats here also.
Everyone there from CNN just kept looking at each other after each joke, saying what does that mean? I dont get it. Exactly.
Speaking of gatherings filled with humorless, hate-filled liberals who want to destroy this country,The Academy Awards Ceremony is tonight, and the producers of the show, Michael DeLuca and Jennifer Todd, lied to USA Today on Saturday, telling the fake newspaper that host Jimmy Kimmels monologue will not be pointedly political. Anyone who believes that, please shoot me a note, because I have got a hell of a deal for you on some real estate I cant get rid of.
In all seriousness, why does anyone watch the Oscars anymore? I mean, unless you are a part of the sexually abusive and depraved Hollywood community, or just some mindless progressive who actually identifies with fundamentally brain-dead, preening, self-absorbed nitwits in general, of course. Other than those people, who else wastes 3-4 hours of their time watching these people honor themselves?
If youre a grown damn man, why watch? Are you just a horndog who wants to see which young actress sporting a #MeToo or #TimesUp pin shows up wearing the least amount of clothes? Are you truly interested in seeing whether or not some movie nobody saw called The Shape of Water beats out another movie nobody saw titled Call Me by Your Name? Do you really give a damn whether or not Meryl Streep wins her 22nd Oscar, or whatever it is?
How about you ladies out there why are you watching, given that the community honoring itself this evening has over the last 6 months been starkly revealed to ravenously hate every single one of you? What possible entertainment value are you going to derive out of seeing a lifelong womanizer like Warren Beatty hand out the Best Picture Award? Is it just to see whether or not he and Faye Dunaway can get it right and announce the movie that actually won this year? And I know you arent tuning in to see what the guys are wearing, because guess what theyre all wearing the same thing! Its a black tux theyre all going to be wearing a black tux! Thats what they all do.
Really and truly, folks, there are just so many better things to do with your time tonight. As a public service, here is a list of just a few of those things:
Give your cats litter box a good cleaning. Mittens deserves better than what youve been giving him, trust me.
Binge watch network TVs best new show of the current season, Kevin Saves The World (We Think). Im not kidding, it is really hard to understand how such a charming, hilarious, grounded show made its way into the lineup of one of the three major networks. If you havent been watching it, tonights a great time to start.
Spend time with your kids, if youre a parent, or with your grandkids if you, like me, are a grandparent. It will do you some good. Might even do them some good, too.
If none of those options work for you, at 8:00 Central time, get onto iHeartRadio and tune into AM 740 KTRH in Houston, where you will find a little radio program that yours truly appears on every week called In the Oil Patch. There wont be any half-nekkid women or un-funny comics taking shots at President Trump, but you will learn something you didnt know about energy, I promise.
Just another day in dont watch the Oscars America.
That is all.

Awards given to movies we don’t watch announced by people we don’t care about.
I don’t know anyone who watches the Academy Awards anymore.
Last Movie I went to a theater to see was Clint Eastwood’s Trouble with the Curve
A headline says the Oscars might focus on gun control. It us about time hollywood stopped making movies glorifying guns and killing ... Movies that teach kids this is normal behavior. (but I bet their focus is on more such movies so the killing can continue to give Democrats a political fake political issue).
For the first time in decades I watched (via some magic on a fire stick my son set up) two contenders. Dunkirk and Darkest Hour.
Dunkirk was good (must read the explanation of the time lines at the beginning or youll go WHAT?). Darkest Hour was excellent and deserves best picture and best lead actor trophies.
Entertainment/media types glorifying entertainment/media types. I will never watch.
Oh, are the Oscars on tonight?
Can’t watch, I’m afraid.
I’ll be cleaning my litter boxes.
Both were excellent movies, but Darkest Hour was the better of the two. You could see so much of today with Trump and the opposition through the entire movie.
>>Awards given to movies we dont watch announced by people we dont care about.
That’s the Oscars in one sentence!
Plural litter boxes? Wow! You talk the talk AND walk the walk, Mewzilla.
Me Ill come to free republic, tomorrow, or perhaps Fox and Friends tomorrow AM, to see who won.
Twenty years ago a massive 57 million Americans watched James Cameron proclaim himself "King of the World!" as the movie we all loved (but told everyone we hated) cleaned up.
Last year, a mere 37 million Americans watched a sorrowful, mournful, Hollywood, dressed for a funeral and despondent over Hillary's loss miff their lines delivering the Best Picture award. This year, I predict even fewer numbers.
FWIW, we used to have great 1000+ post live threads here on FR as well on Oscar night. A long time ago.
I haven’t watched since the Oscars were hosted by Johnny Carson.
“”””Oh, are the Oscars on tonight?

I would rather lick them clean than watch the oscars.
Watch yet another episode of the mutual admiration society? I don’t think so. I will be watching some paint dry.
I think maybe the last Oscars I even cared about was when "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" won in 1975, but that's only because I was still a young, foolish girl and had a crush on Michael Douglas. The crush has long since dissipated with the coming of maturity.
Hmmm...43 years since I last gave a damn about the Oscars. Not a single solitary thing has improved in Hollyweird since that time.
While I can’t take the stress of watching war movies now, just watched the trailers and am a wreck (kurds are surrounded in Efrin with no ally) but I did think that a thread should be started with Freeper recommendations. Hopefully later on this year I will be able to watch these two. Links saved for L8R, thanks!
hmmm....I bought a pile of DVDs for$5 each, I’m reading a medieval historical fiction, an antenna TV station is airing Touched By An Angel and Columbo. I haven’t simplified Trig Identities for awhile, for relaxation. Why would I watch that Hollywood hatefest when there are so many excellent choices?
I am certain I never watched the whole Oscars in my life.
OMG. I graduated high school in 1975. I certainly don’t feel like an old broad, though.
