I agree with your description of the songs. However, Top 40 still ruled the AM band well into the 70's and maybe beyond. Not everyone had an FM radio--these were a lot more expensive at the time than AM-only radios, and most car radios could only get the AM band.
Yep, you couldn’t turn on the radio in ‘78 without hearing the Bee Gees.

My heart's on fire.
For those country music fans not aware of the "real" Elvira...
Giddy up...oom poppa....omm poppa....mow mow
I have always had a soft spot for the Bee Gees, loved their early stuff and then Saturday Night Fever.
When I was in the USN, over in Europe during the mid Seventies, you couldn’t go to any club on liberty in any country without hearing it.
Really brings back memories for me.
But these were pairs, if I had to pick individual songs, mine would be songs like “Pick Up The Pieces” “Family Affair”, Steely Dan’s “Peg” or “Backstabbers”...:)
Ben, could you please clarify these which you “passed”?
Some are just plain missing. I need to know if you wanted to pass on these; if not, what is your choice:
1 1973 “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” Tony Orlando and Dawn
7 1973 “Crocodile Rock” Elton John
3 1975 “Philadelphia Freedom” Elton John
5 1975 “My Eyes Adored You” Frankie Valli
1 1977 “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” Rod Stewart
6 1977 “I Like Dreamin’” Kenny Nolan
Oops. Sorry.
Pass on 1973
pass on 1975
1977...uh...Rod Stewart.
