Mayfield has to go to work on class. Saw the refusal to shake hands with him IN FRONT OF 2 KIDS! Let's go there for a minute. 3 black CO-CAPTAINS decide there's no room for sportsmanship. It's like NFL players deciding to not respect the flag. Protocol is just not in their DNA. Media makes Mayfield the SOLE issue. I'm glad they got the crap kicked out of them. As for Mayfield he will win the Heisman. Reminds me of Trump.
Those ESPN announcers ragged on him an entire quarter. Mayfield is the DJT of football.
How about you properly inform us WTH you are posting ..
Thank you I too am lost.
I am confident that this would not have happened on an Oklahoma Sooners team under Barry Switzer or prior coaches, this is bad culture that ‘permits’ STUPID behavior like this. Sure you have idiot kids doing all their stupid stuff on both teams BUT the COACH should have grabbed them in the locker room and ORDERED them to do the polite behavior. Yeah, I am glad he apologized afterwards and after the loss BUT what a bad taste he leaves!
Baker Mayfield apologizes for actions during Kansas game
He should not have apologized in my opinion, but then he manned up to be the bigger man on & off the field.
I am not on top of too many things. Just google Baker Mayfield. You will get entertained.
I did, that’s how I found out what the story was about, because I do not watch any football anymore.
Yesterday, in a last ditch effort to make “Johnny Football” look both sane and humble, OU’s 22-year-old petulant quarterback, Baker Mayfield, grabbed his crotch and mouthed “f—k you” to the fans at Kansas University -— not once, but three times. No ‘sooner’ had the Heisman candidate humiliated himself and the university he represents, than a legion of sports apologists sprang into action.
Most notable among them was ESPN, which is best known for hiring the most intellectually inert ex-jocks to provide ‘expert’ analysis and commentary. They immediately deployed the tried and true “boys will be boys” and “everybody does it” defense of the indefensible by yammering on about his ‘competitive spirit;’ and unfortunate attraction of on-field cameras. It was a disgusting display from bone-headed, self-entitled ex-jocks, but not at all surprising.
Part of the criteria for the Heisman Trophy involves character and integrity, neither of which can be found in Baker Mayfield. The very first thing that came to my mind, by contrast, is that Mayfield is more than old enough to give his life for his country, and while this preening, narcissistic brat is making a spectacle of himself over a college sport, real heroes who are much younger are being killed overseas in defense of our country. But for them, there’s no fanfare; there’s no celebrity; and, there’s no Heisman Trophy.
Character and integrity. No hand shaking b4 the game. In front of 2 kids. OK so Mayfield more than one ups-them. Other Heisman winners? It gets really good when they go pro.
Saw this turd acting like an ass after the Ohio State game. Typical total moron . . . I guess with an exotic first name like Baker, you can be whatever you want. Who names their kids Baker . . . why not Plumber or Electrician?
Bunny. Pancake.
Mayfield should be assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at the beginning of every game.
“Those ESPN announcers ragged on him an entire quarter. Mayfield is the DJT of football.”
Everyone ripping Mayfield on this thread has lost sight of the events. Kansas refused to shake hands before the coin toss. I have never seen that happen before. They signed their own death warrant because OU was going to have a hard time getting fired up to play a lame 1-9 team after a grueling schedule. Kansas gave OU motivation. A less than average defense punished them.
Yes, what Baker did was conduct unbecoming, BUT it happens in every game. Every game. The pearl-clutchers at ESPN carried on for a long time about it. Meh...boys will be boys.
Not saying I agree, but, he just lost the Heisman.
The Kansas players who refused to shake hands were preparing to be kneelers in the NFL.
They didn’t have to keep the camera on him either. It was simply manufactured outrage.
U of K #29 is a white guy
Mayfield will end up either as another Johnny Manzel or Brett Farve. We’ll see.
It was wrong of Kansas to refuse the hand shake and appears there are numerous late hits on him during the game that were obviously them trying to target him.
That said, based on some of his other actions during the year - the guy is an ass and is bringing it on himself with his narcissistic behaviour. I wouldn’t cry if he was taken down a peg or two.
Play the game, act like you’ve been there before, respect the fans, your team, your rivals, and the sport. Demonstrate class.
He needs a good woman.
