A pediatrician went on a viral rant recently about the dangers of convincing children they are transgender and then prescribing them hormone blockers that prevent them from developing into their born gender.
What did she say? At a recent Heritage Foundation forum about the topic, Dr. Michelle Cretella went on a lengthy rant about how it is child abuse to indulge children who are gender-confused by helping them “transition” to the gender they think they are.
Cretella said:
Chemical castration is what you’re doing when you put any biologically normal child on puberty blockers. It’s treating puberty like a disease, arresting a normal process which is critical to normal development and bad for kids.
Sterilization: not good for kids. Prepping them for what will likely result in a case in girls a double mastectomy at 16 — not how you treat depression or anxiety and I have plenty of experience treating teenagers with depression, anxiety, even suicidal depression. Indoctrinating pre-school kids with the lie that you can be trapped in the wrong body, again, that’s disrupting their normal reality testing and cognitive development. Those things are abusive.
As to the studies, there are two that I am aware of that claim affirming your child’s gender confusion is good for them. Number one, it assumes that coaching a child into a fixed-false belief is mentally healthy. Science doesn’t allow you to assume your conclusion. Number two, those studies are extremely small. Number three, those studies are very short term. And number four, the control group of “mentally healthy children” are the siblings, most of them are siblings of the trans-identifying child. Oh, and there’s a number five, the parents were the ones evaluating the mental health of the children.
This is not science…I don’t think you need to have an M.D. or a Ph.D to know that’s not science — that’s ideology masquerading as science.
Who is Cretella?
Cretella is a pediatrician who serves as the president of the American College of Pediatricians. She is very outspoken about the dangers of letting kids believe they are transgender and calls the cultural problem “large-scale child abuse.”
No it won't. She formed the college with the dr from Johns Hopkins who pioneered but then abandoned sex change surgery for this purpose, to oppose trans gender mutilation of children.
I saw this presentation and it was not a rant. It was a very well informed and well reasoned argument against the insanity that has swept this country that approves of sexually mutilating young children. She was certainly passionate but in no way was she ranting.
Thx, I got through about half of it before I had to stop reading. When I read “dilation”, I thought, “huh? that’s a pregnancy term” and then realized, oh... wait a minute... and wanted to vomit.

I’d like to shake her hand. I don’t have an M.D. or a Ph.D. either, but I damn sure know the difference between a boy and a girl and I won’t pretend otherwise.
Look at some of the human misery and death caused by governments pretending things to be true that aren’t true:
-Pretending that black people aren’t people => slavery.
-Pretending that Jewish people aren’t people => the Holocaust.
-Pretending that preborn people aren’t people => millions dead via abortions.
-Pretending that a boy is a girl, etc. => lower self-esteem and higher rates of suicide.
What's scary is that parents who are well-meaning might take a child to a psychiatrist or counselor thinking they would help the child resolve this, but instead the "professional" would reinforce the problem! Same with homosexuality -- instead of telling a kid, you're not gay, it's normal to have questions, confusion or whatever (esp with what kids are bombarded with these days), they just encourage the kid to "experiment" and "accept who they are."
Her main concern here is children and in most cases with kids it's not even mental illness. It's just normal behavior.
She told a story about a boy named Andy who had two loving well adjusted parents. They later gave birth to a special needs little girl who needed a great deal of attention. Andy noticed that he was getting less attention and the baby was getting more. The baby was a girl. Andy decided that his parents loved girls more than boys and so he said he wanted to be a girl. The parents recognized the problem and took steps to put the boy at eased. Problem solved. She made the point that today the kid and the parents would immediately be in trans sex therapy, the boy would be on hormones and scheduled for surgery.
And she's right...this stuff is rampant. I read that in California a decade ago schools reported something like 15 kids a year with gender confusion issues. Last year it was 2,200.
Read that.....not unusual to see people regret this mutilation of their body. 8 months out and he’s still having issues mentally and physically. That is because this surgery does not address the real issues they have...in fact it often increases their issues.
And yet the extreme social leftists' greatest pleasure is in labeling moral conservatives as flat earth science deniers.
Transgenderism is a mental disorder and should be treated as such.
That account is appalling, the poor man and no way out.
The doctors that do this surgery should be censured. Who would sell this to a patient as a reasonable alternative rather than life long misery? I guess the Hippocratic oath is passe.
Growing up I knew tom girls that played with us boys. Once puberty kicked in they turned in ladies. Some of them were most beautiful women when grown.
I also new a couple of boys that were real wusses. One came back from the Marines and kicked some serious ass on those that had made his life hell for years. Testosterone works wonders for boys and estrogen is for girls.
Leave the kids alone and let them make their own decisions when grown.
That’s because “transgenderism” is a learned (or taught), self-induced affliction,
Bares repeating, over and over again, until it registers with all of the deniers on the progressive left and the fence-sitters in the middle. This is a battle for the mind and soul.
Permitting a child to believe that he or she is other than what he or she actually IS must be designated as child abuse.

I love her. I don’t know how she is not thrown out of that politically correct sewer of child poisoning, but bravo!
It is dumb, binary, and abjectly cruel to put hormone blocking drugs into young kid before puberty. This drug is used in fertility treatment (as well as cancer) for good reasons, so I’ve been on it. YOU FEEL LIKE HELL, no control over your emotions, annoyed by people breathing, rage and passion to kill, depression, you name it, if it makes you feel awful, you will feel it.
We need to accept people from toddlerhood with gender dysphoria and love them and let htem be them, as they are. A little boy who likes to live like a girl. He is never going to be a girl but he feels like one inside and we need to let him k ow THAT IS OK, just like the little boy born deaf or without hand or with some other condition that is not his fault.
And we need research into gender and sexual and reproductive development in the womb, which takes place within a tiny time frame in prenatal development. What is going wrong to mess these kids up, what substance in the womb is preventing proper gender sexual development more and more lately?
But poisoning children for this stupid “if you can’t be a full man, you are now forced to be a woman” bullpoop binary loser solution is ridiculous. It’s a poor treatment with only 50% contentment after.
Transitioning only helps 50% of the patients. Acceptance as they are and lots of therapy should help 100%. No need to be chopping. No need to fake a gender change.
91 days & still not back to work (knows people 7-9 months out with significant issues) - still having ‘problems’, evidently the dilation schedules are terrible & the process itself is painful, and he’s suicidal. Yup, just what we need in the military. /SARC
