Many of us are accustomed to working NFL Sundays around game time. However I understand that since many of us will be participating in the the #IHatetheNFL blackout today, they may find themselves with some extra time on their hands so I thought Id tender a few suggestions as to what might be done with this unexpected windfall. Here are a few things I came up with:
1. Launch a countdown clock to O.J.s release.
Update: Rats, they already let the most dubiously innocent man in America out. Alternate game day plan: develop an interactive computer game called Where In the World is O.J. Simpson Searching For the Real Killer. That would be a killer app.
2. Draft a disaster recovery plan for San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz who apparently didnt know that it was part of her job description. And now shes so busy complaining about Trump not helping enough that she doesnt even have time to go to meetings let alone put a plan together. Dont worry if you have no experience at this type of thing, apparently Mayor Cruz doesnt either.
3. Begin (or finish) your Christmas shopping. Its never too early to start the next holiday season, and Amazon is open all day.
4. Can something. Im partial to pickled things so I would recommend pickled peaches:
dilly beans:
or my all time favorite, pickled plums.
of course it is almost Halloween, so feel free to do whatever sounds good to you.
Im sure you have other great ideas about how to spend a lovely autumn Sunday afternoon. How will you #NonNFL?

Weed-whacking and generally giving the yard the once-over before the leaves start falling.
It will be nice to have a whole Sunday free.
I have noticed the new title for the once proud football entity BLM/nfl. And it fits.
I'll take "Courses that NFL players badly need" for $200, Alex.
I pulled up the ivy bush that was consuming my AC compressor a couple of weeks ago. So, I’ll find something saved on TiVo or Netflix or Amazon Prime — and I think there is an MLB game on this afternoon. Or take a long nap.
On my way to go hunting and I will be most of the month - especially on Sundays.
You’ve lost more than your password.
As and end of season gimmick this year, *all* the MLB games will start a little after 3:00pm Eastern.
Going to the mall and meeting family.
If you are a fan of professional golf, and a fan of America, tune in and watch American Exceptionalism on full display at the President’s Cup. The best American golfers in the world, will be proudly wearing the flag of our nation on their visors, shirts, and golf bags, as they play matched up against an “international” team.
The competition for the Cup is pretty much a boat race at this point, with Team USA needing only 1 more point to retain the Cup. Nonetheless, 12 singles matches will be held, and it is awesome watching the best in the world, who normally compete every weekend as individuals, enjoy being a part of something bigger than themselves.
There will be no taking of knees or bad mouthing our nation by these gentlemen.
I think it gets rolling on NBC around noon ET.
after morning gym workout grab my laptop and class book, find a corner at library and work on class prep, maybe hit the range on way home. prepare scallops on a bed of spinach and fried taters for dinner. early to bed and continue into the Honorverse
Here in Californicator land and near to the Former Niners, we are old hands at not watching the National Felon League after last year!
1. As usual, my wife and I will attend our church and go to the coffee hour after the 10 AM service ending about 11:30.
We both notice that like after Super Bowl Sunday, most people are not in a hurry to go home and watch any fake NFL games on tv.
Lately, my table during the coffee hour has been very popular as I tell people how to cut their tv cable and to go to Sling Blue which doesn’t carry Espn/Disney/ABC.
2. Today my wife will take me to Kohls for my annual tshirt buys to go with my cargo pants. My uniform since I retired.
3. We may go to brunch.
4. Regardless, we will return home to our with no cable tv and leave it off until we finish today’s Honey Do lists.
We might watch some of the SF Giant’s last game in a losing season.
5. We will call and text fellow non NFL friends and relatives.
6. We will go on a nice walk to see the changing leaf color even in California.
7. My wife will prep our dinner, and I will grill it (the meat/fish, veggies and even fruit on my grill.
8. During dinner in the family room we might watch tv or listen/watch a concert.
9. She will read one of her weekly 5-6 books, and I will Kindle one of my books. We talk about today and tomorrow.
10. About 9:30 we will go to bed. No local or national fake news. We will check with our online Wunderground weather.
We stopped watching NFL last year due to the Former Niners’ BLM/Jihadist/commie kneeler. Then, we cut our cable this June.
We are saving a lot of money, doing a lot honey do things, feeling better and sleeping better without some rectum on tv telling us how dumb, evil and racist we are in their diseased minds. We are enjoying each other even more with the extra free time.
We are probably not by ourselves with our new tv freedom.
A rousing game of “curling” on Canadian TV. Always good for a thrill...and, no kneeling.
I’ll be in downtown Huntington Beach watching the air show and admiring the Blue Angels and all the other awesome pilots and their awesome aircraft.
In honor of the kneeling idiots I now save my laundry for Sunday game time.
In between washing, drying and folding I will cook a pound of bacon for next weeks breakfasts.
Chop some onion and sweet pepper for next weeks hotdogs.
Change the sheets on the bed.
Vacuum the living room.
Make a couple of packs of smokes.
Call my mom.
Dang! I wish there were some way to boycott the NFL. But I’ve never watched the NFL. Suggestions would be welcome ROLL TIDE!
Regarding your Sling Blue comment, do you know if the Discovery Channel offerings are part of their lineup? I looked and didn’t see it. Wife loves watching her Joe Kenda episodes.
This football widow is happy to report that my principled hubby is sitting out on the deck watching the chipmunk trap he set up 2 days ago. It’s the bucket of water with sunflower seeds floating on top. The first day he got 2 mice and a chipmunk. Watching the bucket is more entertaining - his words. Watching him watch the bucket is nice too.
Cactus pears are ready to harvest. Make some prickly pear jelly.
Carve a pumpkin with the kids today. Have family time doing anything.
During #IHateTheNFL time, I’ll be cleaning the kitchen and clearing out whatever from the fridge for dinner. Hmm, have some stale bolillos rolls so smoked turkey with various cheeses grilled sandwiches, veggie sticks (mushrooms, bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots) and dip, and a grape/peach/banana fruit salad.
