By now, even those without two brain cells to rub together, have heard the news that President Trump's Chief of Strategy, Steve Bannon, is out of the White House. Initial reports were that he was fired; later, reports came out that he tendered his resignation some ten or eleven days ago, and that he and Gen. Kelly (the new chief of staff) mutually agreed that this would be his last day.
(Not to worry about Bannon, though; by the early evening, it was announced that he had landed back at Breitbart News from whence he came.)
Reaction from the usual suspects was swift. Bret Baier on Fox News was smirking through squinted eyes; the announcers on CNN and MSNBC were in a jovial mood; the sentiment, though not expressed verbatim, seemed to be "I told you, I Told You, I TOLD YOU that Trump was going to step in it with Charlottesville ! We may not have impeached him *yet*, but we took out his source of ideas! Now it's only a matter of time, and our only question is whether to extend an olive branch to Trump if he promises to go full cuck, or just to destroy him completely, just for fun, and as a lesson to others." Glenn Beck (who dipped his face in crushed Cheetos once to protest Trump) announced that the Trump Presidency is over.
And of course, running through all this, is the idea that Bannon's departure is really due to Charlottesville, and thus the leftist strategy of supporting anarchist and Communist rioters, while blaming the violence on "racism" and doubling own on the crazy, is ...*finally* something that works to stop The Donald. (Phew, they won't admit it, but secretly they *were* beginning to get a little bit worried.)
But is it? I propose another idea; not that Trump is playing secret 4-dimensional chess (instead of his conventional 3-dimensional); and that the relationship to Charlottesville is not coincidental, but it is not exactly the relationship the left hopes for.
Recall during the early days of the election campaign, when Trump's candidacy was widely held to be something between a vanity, a novelty, and a joke. During one of the early Fox News sponsored debates, rumors went out that the Fox moderators were going to take out Trump's candidacy with Gotcha! questions once and for all. The lot apparently fell to Megyn Kelly, who ironically both launched President Trump's popularity as a serious contender, and destroyed her own career, by attempting to attack him about "treatment of women." Trump launched into a tirade about political correctness, and defended himself by hiding behind (har!) Rosie O'Donnell, who is perhaps not the most sympathetic victim figure available. As Trump's candidacy developed, he fleshed out his position "Make America Great Again!" : taken as code speak and dog whistles for racism by the left (and really, what other weapons do they have except victimhood and hysteria?), but, on examination, he really meant to give the long-neglected working classes an opportunity, man and woman, black, white, and legal Hispanic.
The right, relieved FINALLY to have someone who would stand up to the press, and press back against political correctness instead of hanging his head in shame over knowingly specious accusations, took notice.
Even not-so-political junkie groups like /reddit got involved, proclaiming Trump "The God Emperor" and appropriating a cartoon frog, Pepe, as their mascot. Centipedes, unite!
Many on the right thought Trump would finally roll back the forces of political correctness which have swamped the country: encouraged by his talk of "Build the Wall" and "The Wall just got 10 feet higher" many thought he would also lead the charge against out-of-control affirmative action, sex changes in the military, kangaroo courts against men accused of sexual harassment on University campuses, and the like.
For their part, the left reacted with horror at the same thing, and reacted predictably, didn't they? "RacistsexistbigothomophobemisogynistracistviolentunstableNazidoubleplusungoodfeelbadz. " (Ironically, that string would make a pretty good German compound word, wouldn't it?)
Oh, and once the election happened, "Russia Russia Russia."
Russia, that is, until it was quite clear that Trump was innocent of collusion; and the hacking of the DNC was in inside job, most likely by the dead-in-susupicious-circumstances Seth Rich.
Suddenly, the left needed a new weapon. And FAST.
Terry McAuliffe to the rescue. A Clinton crony, who had restored the voting rights of 50,000 Virginia felons in hopes they'd vote for Hillary in the Presidential election. Despite a Federal Judge's order allowing protestors of tearing down a Confederate Statue to meet, McAuliffe declared a state of emergency, and steered the protestors right into the arms of violent, masked leftists.
Suddenly, the President described as "Putin's c*ck holster" became an ultra right wing White Nationalist. (Gee, that Russia meme got memory-holed quickly.)
And so, even telling the truth at a press conference -- that there were people with Nazi flags and/or symbols, as well as black-masked anarchists and Communists, who committed violence -- was enough.
This was WAR. Major corporations dropped off of Trump's manufacturing council, and major Silicon Valley companies began to censor and no-platform right-of-center websites and applications.
Now here's the thing. Trump is not actually a racist, except by the definition of those on the left who go around setting busts of Abraham Lincoln on fire because "racism." (This ignorance reminds me of the caller to a talk show who said that the United States started World War 2 when they dropped the atomic bomb on Japan for no reason.)
Trump appears, in fact, to want to roll the clock back all the way to the 1970s or so: when affirmative action was not yet started, but when Jim Crow and discrimination had lost all legal standing; an honest day's work for an honest day's wage; and we are all Americans. Hence the call to put up the wall and deport illegal immigrants.
And that might be fine, even with some of the "racists" on the far right, but for one thing.
The left HATES this. Because their goal was never equality, but an ever-increasing list of grievances and privileges, and more and more power and money. For them, because oppression. And narrative. And raised eyebrows.
So the left has done what they always do: lie, and ratchet up tensions, and blame the other side.
And now, defensively, the right is saying "We NEED a champion to destroy the political correctness completely, or the nation is lost."
The firing of Bannon from the White House, appears to be a rare capitulation by Trump, and an indication that he will not match the political raise by the left to stay at the table.
Except for two things.
Has anyone else noticed, there wasn't a *peep* about Bannon resigning before it happened?
That's right. NO LEAKS.
Second, does anyone remember that Trump was out of the White House for the past couple of weeks?
Away from, say, any Obama-planted bugs that could listen in on him.
How much do you want to bet, that Trump was laying out a strategy for going on the offensive?
...which brings us back to those Confederate Statues.
At Chancellorsville, Lee broke every rule of combat, and divided his forces in the face of a numerically superior force, and sending Stonewall Jackson to attack Hooker's flank. He won the battle.
What if...?
Bannon's departure from the White House, is a way to send someone who stands immovable, like a stone wall, to attack the liberals' flank, i.e., the Press and the RINOs?
Just a thought.
The announcement reportedly brought cheers on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange.
President Donald J Trump has done a remarkable job creating a seismic political shift that has gone far beyond drawing a line in the republican sand. Heck, Donald Trump openly dug a trench on his pre-selected battle space within all political encampments.
Without any apology or hidden motive, President Trump filled the trench with a highly explosive electorate fuel (the result from years of Republican lies and deceit), and boldly stood behind his formation twirling a Zippo while looking toward the deceivers.
Today, it sounds like President Trump hands off the Zippo to Steve Bannon:
“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America.” ~ Stephen K Bannon
(Via Bloomberg) […] According to a person close to Bannon, he met Wednesday with conservative billionaire Robert Mercer, co-chief executive of Renaissance Technologies and a major financial supporter of both Trump and Bannon’s efforts. The two mapped out a path ahead for Bannon’s post-White House career and discussed how Trump could get his agenda back on track.
The following evening, Mercer and several other major Republican donors had dinner with Trump to share their thinking, and Mercer also had a private meeting with Trump to pledge to redouble his efforts to support Bannon and advance Trump’s agenda. (read more)
Oh boy.
There is an expression:
“I will leave you naked before your enemies”…
…a proactive assertion essentially stating: if you chose to engage in war with me – not only do I promise your defeat against my interests, but I will lay you open to exposure from all adversaries who will then take advantage of your new vulnerability.
This Trump, Mercer and Bannon agreement definitely sounds like “The Big Ugly” is coming.
President Trump, through policy proposals, forced sunshine upon our enemies inside the wire; he made them expose themselves. As a result, the various “opposition voices” are put into a precarious position of attacking Trump in a vain effort to retain their necessary and self-interested position. Consequently, the republican wing of the UniParty exposed their alignment with usurping powers of Machiavellian intent.
This could will definitely be fun; as Menagerie noted earlier:
One of the notifications I got in the email today from Twitter included a Jonah Goldberg tweet that President Trump’s next step was to get single payer.
I’m not Twitter wise, and thought he might be linking an interesting article so I clicked. Spent a few minutes reading a bunch of comments from counting their chickens before they are hatched Trump haters who went off on a tangent that Trump is next going to declare all out war on Congress and then they joyously slapped each others backs at the thought of him being so stupid as to do that to the very people who are waiting to impeach him because they have the real power.
These fruit fly maniacs are seriously deluding each other in their country clubs and on their golf carts. Frankly, in my business I have worked with just a few of them, and many are insufferably ignorant, just exactly as they seem.
Never have I seen so many people who live their lives in a tiny little bubble think they know so much about what is going on in the world. For God’s sake, they live in a gold plated petri dish.
I believe that the American people who elected President Trump are more committed than ever. After the election, seeing the putridity is even more deep and wide than we thought, and we knew it was bad, I happen to believe we have been validated, and that my fellow citizens do too.
Those of us who struggle every day, who work for a living, who either experience ourselves, or watch loved ones slowly sinking, knowing they are going under soon, from the final burden of Obamacare on a budget that had maybe a couple hundred extra dollars on a good month, those of us who lost good jobs during the Obama reign of terror, those of us who are watching the hordes of migrants kill and steal, drain and demand, and many of whom pay more in taxes than the median wage, we aren’t backing down. They will face a total rage sweeping across this land if they dare to try to take away the leader we chose. I will NOT be denied. I am not alone, not by a long shot.
The trouble is, they believe their own shit. Jonah Goldberg and all that crowd have not once looked around and said “Damn, we ain’t been right about anything for two years now. Maybe we should look around and see what’s going on.” No, they just keep believing in themselves because they still have their money, their select medical plans, their country clubs, and their isolated gated lifestyle.
Talking heads like Goldberg, and insert about twenty more here, are truthfully only pissed because we the unwashed people are not listening to them. They still cannot believe we have dared to not bow to the thinking of our betters. Then, we dared to not believe the lies of our political overlords. Then, we dared to ask them to make good on their rallying cries. We dared. How dare we.
I think that the election of President Trump might be a result of the changes they missed while drinking martinis and screwing us over again and again. People loathe Obamacare. We are fed up with paying for illegal immigrants to get care we can’t afford. We are watching every single development in Europe and seeing the writing they can’t read.
We really are almost at the point of nothing to lose.
I voted not for Republicans but for Trump. I swore never to vote Republican again. Now I face the age old dupe from them again. Can I bear to turn Congress over to the Democrats again with Trump in office? I don’t know, but what the hell are they giving me? I am probably going to violate my own oath and vote for Republicans while Trump remains in office, but the minute he is out, I want them dead. I want to see the party destroyed and I believe with all my heart and my pretty damned intelligent head that it has got to happen for us to win.
We are on the Republican plantation just like the poor inner city people who live in the projects are on the Democrat one. Same same. And they are getting a better fricking deal.
This country is boiling and they cannot see it. I want the blood of the Republican oligarchs.

I’m nearly positive McM is heading back to the sandbox. Hope DJT replaces him with McFarland.
I think this presidency is over but will wait for the ouster of Miller, Kellyanne and Gorka to be absolutely certain. We will see pretty quickly. Following their leaving, we will see pretty quickly the full funding of Obamacare and the upping of welfare spending in return for some limited tax reductions.
Brilliant!
How do you interpret that?
I think this presidency is over.....
Thanks for stopping by FR this year, and every few years, to share your predictions.
Geez.
Very interesting take on the situation. Thanks for posting. MAGA!

I think this presidency is over but - - -

You on the wrong site, boy.
Just got off the phone w/ Bannon: "If theres any confusion out there, let me clear it up: Im leaving the White House and going to war" 1/2
"...for Trump against his opponents -- on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America. 2/2
Bannon is now Bannon Unleashed.
I've an idea for a Bannon meme...
We have “dial-a-yield” on our MIRV’d ICBMs. A single missle could take out all of the artillery aimed at Seoul without damaging Seoul. >>>
yea, no shit...you asked about bannon...he should have kept his big mouth shut and not disclose trump’s tactics....
Howie Carr’s stand-in mentioned something to do with Big Banks. IDK, myself.
Right. Worry about us.
There was though, they were saying several days ago that he would be gone.
I think they discussed it and in order to be most effective, Bannon needs to be unshackled so his methodology doesn’t give the Left more ammo to try smear Trump with. Bannon has laid the blame at the feet of the GOPe’s complicity with the Left and has declared War - will be interesting to watch.
