I'm getting tired of arguing about this so figured I'd start a vanity poll. I apologize in advance if this is out of line.
No, it doesn’t. And just because some creeps decided to riot together and one maniac decided to kill somebody, doesn’t make American nationalism a bad thing. (I hate that word, the real word should be: patriotism.)
Funny thing, I’m vacationing up in a very liberal section of Maine, it appears. Why do they all have multiple American flags flying on their houses?
James Brown was Black and Proud, but was still a great American......................
No, but that is the box they are trying to put is in.
The event in Charlottesville will be used to paint anyone opposed to the erasure of history as a bigot.
If these are the guys you’re trying to equate with “Pride and Nationalism”, then you can have them.

(and for those who don’t want to watch the link, this is the bunch complaining the “F*cking Jew-lovers are gassing us)
Not if it’s gay pride or black power.
:>(
I'll go you one better: What happened in Charlottesville will be used to paint anyone who's White and proud to be an American as a bigot.
Scratch that - not will be used, it's already happening.
There's a civil war II coming. I can feel it in my bones. I really can. Don't want it, don't look forward to fighting it, but dammit I can feel it coming.
I’ve been saying it since this business in VA first emerged:
The more the left/antifa equates white Americans with White Racism, the more white Americans will come to believe it’s their only redoubt.
At some point the survival instinct will override political philosophy. Even religion.
I am white and proud of it. I am more than tired of being told to be ashamed of my ‘white privilege.’
While obtaining a Master’s in History degree at an Arizona University in the early 2000s, a reading requirement was four books describing the scourge of whiteness. The anti white meme has been percolating in the universities for at least a decade. Now it is front and center on the public stag.
Too bad that a Martin Luther King is absent from the scene.
Yes, anyone who has pride in America, its history, culture and accomplishments will be painted as a racist white supremacist.
At some point the survival instinct will override political philosophy. Even religion.
You keep trying to punish people for being a specific race and gender, and eventually people of that specific race and gender will resent it to the point where they no longer care what you call them. Push them beyond that, and they will explode in wrath.
No, Pride and Nationalism is the opposite of Hate and Supremacy. Hate and Supremacy is a feature of identity politics, Pride and Nationalism is a feature of people coming together as one nation.
Salient point. Americans in general are a generous, welcoming people- but every society, nation, culture has it’s limits of what is acceptable to them. We are bumping the stops on a regular basis now.
I'm male.Ditto above regarding pride or shame.
I'm Christian.I feel very fortunate to be Christian. That's it.
I don't know if I qualify as a "nationalist" or not.I believe this is an amazing country and I feel very fortunate to be a citizen.I've served in the military, worked hard, paid my taxes, obeyed the law. That's it.
Nazis? Watch them...make sure they don't cause trouble.The Klan...ditto.
Maoists, anarchists? They outnumber Nazis and Klan members in this country by a factor of at least 50 (if not greater).Watch them carefully, particularly given their numbers.
It doesn't have to. But like many other things there are people who will pervert pride and nationalism into something hate filled and bigoted.
I have wondered about that from time to time. Martin Luther King's writing and speeches seem quite reasonable in today's race obsessed culture. They seem to be a voice of reason.
Had he lived till today, would he have remained a voice of reason, or would he, like many of his associates, continue to "evolve" into a race hustler, ala Sharpton and Jessie Jackson?
How many modern black leaders are speaking as did Martin Luther King, versus how many are speaking like Jessie Jackson?
I'm very proud of my heritage, and of the princples on which this nation was founded.
However, the color of the skin of the People who espoused those principles is irrelevant. Liberty and its principles are universal concepts which belong to all Americans, and it doesn't matter who "invented" them.
The fact is, American ideals are far larger—and far more perfect—than any of the flawed men who embraced them.
Any attempts at "separatism", division, balkanization, and disunity are gorssly misguided, IMHO.
I'm an American nationalist—not a white nationalist, and the fact that others want to be fixated on skin color doesn't mean I'm going to take that un-American path.
The important thing is to realize that the vast majority of Americans are perfectly aware of "what's up", and they know very well that the Media is attempting to drive wedges between people.
Most Americans are post-racial. That's a fact. Every one of us sees the evidence of that with our own eyes—not on the fake news, but in our everyday interactions with our fellow Americans.
So I will remain a staunch nationalist and believer in American exceptionalism—something which flows from both our diversity and our unity.
So, to answer your question: Does Pride and Nationalism equate to Hate and Supremacy? NO. But when you start qualifying "Nationalism" based on racial criteria, it becomes an inferior mindset, and is just as wrong for Whites as it is for Blacks, Latinos, or anyone else.
Anyone can be brought up to appreciate and cherish American Liberty.
E Pluribus Unum should forever be America's motto. Anything less undermines our exceptionalism and relegates it to the mundane.
Nine people died violently in Chicago this weekend.
One person died violently at the event in Charlottesville.
That’s 9:1.
There is a huge outcry over something that is 1/9th of what happened in Chicago.
Why?
Money.
The purpose of the Democrat Party is to elect thieves to public office so that they have access to the public treasuries in order to loot them.
The Democrats control Chicago which allows them to control Illinois.
They are stuck like a tick on the public treasuries there, which is why they are broke.
Virginia is a different story.
The Democrats don’t have absolute control of Virginia.....yet.
They want unhindered access to the public treasuries there in order to loot them.
This is why the press, the Democrats, are making such a big issue out of Charlottesville versus Chicago.
They have to get more Democrats elected in Virginia.
That way the Democrats, and Soros, have complete access to the public treasuries there so they can loot them.
It’s just about money.
Race doesn’t have anything to do with it.
Pride and nationalism vs. hate and supremacy are two very different things. Nothing wrong with pride and pride of your nation, nationalism, our exceptionalism, our western culture, etc. But, hate and supremacy—that is wrong. The latter, in my opinion, is when you back up or lead your views with violence or threat of violence, when you act on your views with violence. But it is also historical, and guilt by association. Nazis, Islam, and Confederate flags, for example, represent views and actions that are hateful, are inseparably linked with evil, with views and violence that are at odds with Americans, they are unAmerican, they are the flags and views used by people, groups, and nations to kill Americans, to intimidate Americans.
