Feminist vegan hopes the move will provoke people into discussing unfair treatment of women
A CAFE is making waves after it began charging blokes more money in a bid to close the gender pay gap.
The feminist vegan owner of Handsome Her eatery in Melbourne, Australia, is making them pay an 18 per cent man tax as well as giving women priority over seating.
Owner Alex OBrien told Broadsheet website: I do want people to think about it, because weve had this (pay discrepancy) for decades and decades and were bringing it to the forefront of peoples minds.
I like that it is making men stop and question their privilege a little bit.
Ms OBrien says the response from her customers has been positive, with one man even donating $50 (£30) to the cause.
She said: Theres been nothing but positivity from everyone, males and females.
But the reaction on social media has been mixed, with some praising while others are outraged.
One Twitter user said: This makes me sick. What the hell is wrong with these stupid women. Rules for men to enter?
While Jack Saba tweeted: Your cafe is sexist.
The extra money will be donated to the Elizabeth Morgan House which supports Aboriginal women and children.
It comes as a row broke out over the gender pay gap after the salaries of top BBC earners were revealed.
The broadcaster published a full list of the 96 people who earn more than £150,000 exposing a huge disparity in wages, with just one woman Claudia Winkleman featuring in its top ten best-paid stars.
Prime Minister Theresa May was among those to blast the figures and call for the Beeb to pay men and women the same.
She said: What has happened today is we have seen the way the BBC is paying women less for doing the same job as the men.
I think Caitlyn Jenner has an answer to this.
So what man would be stupid enough to eat there??? Oh, right, a Leftard “man”....
Just wondering...
I was in the deli at the grocery store some months ago. I was about to buy a package of egg rolls when I saw on the label, “Woman Owned”. Had they not decided to pander I wouldn’t have thought anything about it. But I did think something about it so I put them back. Oh well, I’m sure they’ve locked up the Frustrated Lesbian Market.
Vegan? Male hating? I’d rather go to a steakhouse!
So any guy who goes in there is a moron or a cuck. His loss.
Here’s a secret about the restaurant industry: viability rests on the lunch trade, and 70% of the lunch decisions are made by women. Dinner may have bigger tickets, based on the marked up booze, where guys are taking their dates, but the marginal dollar in the restaurant biz is the lunch trade.
Men should simply identify as women when they go in.
The wussification of Australian men is nearing completion, I see. Next, they’ll be banning Aussie rules football, or demanding that the players not hit so hard.
Welcome go Gender Jizya. Convert to being a female, or pay an 18% tax.
Can I avoid the tax by “identifying” as female when I go to this cafe?
“So what man would be stupid enough to eat there??? Oh, right, a Leftard man...”
Probably some stupid schlub who is dating a grass eater and his mistake hasn’t dawned on him yet.
Any Aussie man who eats there is an Aussie pu$$y.
LOL! Brilliant.
I suspect the market will have the final say. “Five bucks for her, six bucks for you” is going to irritate even the most soulfully earnest liberal Beta. If not, they deserve it.
I'm Taking My Own Head, Screwing It On Right, and No Guy's Gonna Tell Me it Ain't!
.
A virtue-signaling beta male feminist one, obviously. :=)
I purchased a package of colorful plastic paper clips in my local WalMart.
The package says “Women Owned Business.”
I didn’t have a problem with that, but after bringing them home, I noticed the paper clips were made in China! Were they made by Chinese women? Kinda doubt it.
Next time, I’ll buy another brand. I don’t think WalMart carries that “Women Owned” brand anymore anyway.
I missed your reply before submitting mine,
