| I think we can hold AT&T's feet to the fire. Time Warner, the owner of CNN, is not as widely known by Deplorables. But everyone in America knows AT&T. And I have high confidence that CNN will be on a shorter leash if AT&T decides to keep CNN after the merger happens. If CNN stands alone, we may actually have less power because someone like Jeff Bezos (owner of Washington Post) and CEO of Amazon will buy the firm and keep it funded. President Trump is really only trying to help CNN and has made several attempts to do so. How many times has he called them to task for blowing the opportunity to improve their integrity and strengthen their business standing with very simple changes? During that famous first press conference President Trump made very direct, very Presidential, attempts to forewarn CNN about the impending doom that lies ahead for them if they continue down the path they have chosen. He's not actively trying to destroy them (as they are convinced he's attempting to do), he is very proactively trying to tell them their vehicle is on fire, they are driving too fast, and that there is a brick wall ahead of them.
A scene in the movie “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” comes to mind and illustrates what the president is doing with CNN. CNN are John Candy and Steve Martin driving on the wrong side of the road not knowing they are headed towards two oncoming tractor-trailers. President Trump is the other driver on the proper side of the road witnessing CNN’s error and attempting to warn them that they are going the wrong way. CNN, through their blind arrogance is ignoring the warning thinking, “how could the president know where they are going?”
Was it Presidential when Stompy Foot referred to himself 45 times over the course of the speech at the memorial service for the five police officers killed in Dallas? How about this Presidential moment?
