Operation Food Search is launching an expanded summer program this week, providing free meals to children under the age of 18 who would normally eat breakfast and lunch at school.
Some of the meals will come from food truck-like vans.
Starting Monday and continuing through Aug. 11, program leaders plan to distribute more than 100,000 meals to hungry children in St. Louis and St. Louis County, exceeding last years record. The summer program, now in its sixth year, has grown from providing 5,000 meals in 2012, Executive Director Sunny Schaefer said....

“youre an abject failure.”
I don’t understand. If you don’t take care of your kids (as in FEEDING THEM), doesn’t DCFS or some other state agency and take your kids away? WTF?
That is a good question.....
I think you left out $40,000-$60,000 SUV’s with $2,000-$3,000+ rims and tires.
In my best year my salary wouldn’t support a $60,000 SUV. I just don’t get it.
Meanwhile, tonight at Wal*Mart I got one package of their $2.50 eggrolls (they’re not too bad with their $1.62 Sweet and Sour sauce - I have some left over). And I got another package of radish seeds for 20 cents. About $2.85 with tax.
Meanwhile, the grocery store has mac ‘n’ cheese 3 for $1 this weekend. I loaded up and put some in the food storage. Bought quite a few, LOL. But not that many.
Good price for the mac n cheese. I do that too.
When I was a kid, I think Child Protective Services would have been called if a kid didn’t have a packed lunch, didn’t have 25cents given to them to eat in the “Caf”, or didn’t go home for lunch, a practice from the early 50’s I can’t imagine for young kids now. People who get welfare get more for each kid, I think, so why wouldn’t they be required to use that money for kid’s lunches, breakfasts, etc.? The Left starts recruiting early, very, very early.
The school food programs force children to live in intolerable situations where the adults who live with them do not care enough to feed them. If they are not being fed you can bet their other life needs are not being met either.
to me free school food is a form of child abuse perpetrated by the State.
Like whether they get three or only two slices of microwaved pizza for breakfast?
