It should be simpler to adapt than complain. Obviously complaining is more fulfilling.

Common practice is to break out an acronym the first time it is used. IRL (In Real Life).
A few years ago I had a doctor throw a couple acronyms at me that in my job meant something entirely different. I got some laughs and funny looks when I told the story later at work.

As a military station I always used INT instead of IMI.

My circumstances, which I cannot go into, were a little different.

A Civil War , not between the North / South States,
but rather between the 'hard left'/ Socialists vs. Conservatives
Has there been violence ?, and if so, who is the cause for it ?
And, are you protected ?

There will be no battle lines.Oh Yes there will be. If the the USA devolves into general chaos many states will become autonomous and declare their independence from DC. Count in it. Little 'r' republicanism which has been dead and drummed out of the public discourse as something bad since 1865 will rightfully re-emerge.

A scanner with the ability to receive your local police and medical emergency frequencies could make the difference between life and death. A ham radio station setup that is able to receive both HF, VHF and UHF frequencies to let you know what is going on not only in your area but across the Nation, as well. Not nearly as much as you need to pick up on public utility service dispatches, ambulance calls, railroad train-to-dispatcher reports, aviation communication and taxicab reports. The cops and sheriffs are responding after the fact; it's usually others out in the public spaces who first come upon signs of trouble- to which the cops may or may not respond.
