Ousted FBI Director James Comey will not appear in a closed session before the Senate Intelligence Committee next Tuesday.
Comey had been invited by Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and top Democrat Mark Warner of Virginia. Their panel is investigating Russia’s election meddling and allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
Warner announced that Comey would not be appearing before his panel in an interview on MSNBC Friday.
The session would have provided Comey a first chance to discuss with lawmakers the circumstances of his firing.
Warner’s announcement came after President Donald Trump issued a warning to Comey on Twitter Friday, writing that the fired FBI director “better hope that there are no ‘tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!”
The tweet — which has outraged Democrats — appeared to be a response to a New York Times story in which sources close to Comey said he had declined a request from Trump to pledge loyalty to the president.

More like he's sick of appearing in front of this Senate committee and that Senate committee and has had enough.
He gave them the finger today and in effect told them "if you want me, subpoena me" at which point he'd be wise to take the fifth on every question asked, including his name.
I amazed at how POTUS Trump works. Our President kept Comey on for a reason and fired when appropriate. What did President Trump get from all of this not to mention America? This POS Comey may be the thread to undo it all for Clinton and Obama.

It would embarrass him to have to say, no, there never was any indication that there was anything to the allegations of other than the ravings of certain Democrats. It would be good if he were to testify and say that he initiated and continued the Russian investigation only because the President (Hussein) demanded it and the Next President (Mrs. Bill) also demanded it. I would start a GoFundMe page for him if he did that.

Comey would not be threatened with killing. that sort of thing can have bad results for the threatener. If they think he needs to be silent he will have a single car wreck or will fall out of a canoe and drown with no threats beforehand. If he suddenly starts to sing he avoids that sort of eventt. There is no profit in killing someone who has spilled the beans while killing someone about to spill the beans means that the beans stay safely in the can.
