Pomona College Professor Admits Students Based on Race
Bogus Times ^ | 4/25/17 | Kim Parkhurst

A geology professor at Pomona College admits students to her “Southern California Earthquakes and Water” course through a blanket of racial and socio-economical discriminations.

Professor Linda Reinen’s flyer introduces her class as a unique and intriguing hands-on exploration into the tectonic and hydrologic challenges faced in California. It then lowers the hammer of discrimination against white, middle-class students, specifying her racial and income level preference on how she accepts students for enrollment.

Pomona college could face lawsuits.

This so-called "professor" should face a good, long, hard ass kicking.

Enough is enough of this garbage. This kind of crap doesn't help anyone.

Meh. What good is a geology degree?

I could not agree with you more. If classroom seats remain after those required to take the course are registered, it should be first come first serve. No preferences based on race, gender, and so forth.

Jeff Sessions is the same age as the President; 70.
Donald Trump is not your typical 70 y/o in most any way you can measure it. His energy level is way up there. It’s remarkable. From most appearances, Jeff Sessions is more typical of a man his age. Maybe we need someone more energetic in there. Someone ambitious, not just hopeful. Someone who gets angry, not just ‘disappointed.

If we do that, we might lose one of the few conservatives in the admin and get a establishment AG.

Didn’t this country pass some sort of laws prohibiting racial discrimination back in the 1960s?

You are very mistaken. I knew several Pomona students/alums in the ‘80s (because of a woman I dated) and heard a lot about their time there. Wasn’t the most left-wing of all colleges but certainly very liberal. Of course, most campuses have a variety of elements and aren’t only reflected in their left-liberal aspects, but I have never known Pomona to be anything but very liberal.

Now this prof, of course, is not “liberal” but radical left in her very ILLIBERAL policy. The left is the implosion of true liberalism, destroying freedom and openness in favor of their raging biases.

Screw that, every student who has been refused a seat in her class should sue the university for their tuition back, most of which can easily be done in small claims court. A federal case simply results in an apology and perhaps even a consent decree to make sure they stay on the straight (gay) and narrow.

But sue for tuition back, and the college will stand up and notice.

The prof. needs to take her "white knight" ideology and give her job to someone of color.

That’s not the issue (geology majors), the article says geology majors are given first preference. Anyway, it certainly does not sound like the kind of course that would be required of majors. It is an elective. But discrimination on the basis of race/background is still unwarranted discrimination, even if it is applied after the geology majors have been accommodated.

"This fall semester, Reinen will give preferential treatment to geology majors and then wield her authority to racially discriminate and admit students based on whether they’re from marginalized backgrounds...."

I am not sure ugly would even describe what is going to happen one day. Continued preferential treatment of some “class” of people is close to pushing some over the line now. I just hope it happens while I can still do somethings; I don’t want my daughter to fight this fight.

I was looking up something on pulsars, and come across an entry about a prof at my undergrad alma mater.

I clicked on her, and part of her interest went like "...and the impact of catastrophic astronomical events on impoverished South American women..."

Seriously? Grants for studies about women, maybe?

There was a geology course at Temple University that was for football players only. Every class there were the same six brightly colored samples of minerals on the instructor’s desk. Every class, they would go over what these samples were. At the end of the course, the grade was based on correctly answering six questions...

Private colleges don’t get to discriminate.

Start a private college that says no blacks can apply and see how fast you are sued into bankruptcy.

“Rocks for Jocks” is a tradition at quite a number of schools, a way for some geologist to support the athletic program and feel part of something more exciting, academic standards be damned.

It then lowers the hammer of discrimination against white, middle-class students.

So the only question that remains is; will whites stand up for themselves? or not? Are whites so kowtowed as to accept the very thing that many claim doesn't exist?
