I don't see why the GOP can't go nuclear, and then change it back later. I remember the Massachusetts 'rat party doing something like that when they changed a law to tie the GOP's hands on some matter when Mitt was governor, and then changed it back when they had a 'rat in office.

As I posted on Monday (and got flamed for it), I’ve been told by a very credible source on Capitol Hill that John McCain and Lindsey Graham are working with the Democrats to broker a deal, to wit, Gorsuch gets the necessary 60 votes with a guarantee to Schumer & Co. that the Republicans will not impose the so-called nuclear option on future SCOTUS nominees.
I have heard several center-left analysts question the political wisdom of forcing the nuclear now on a conservative-for-conservative replacement.
Rick Unger in particular, and Michael Smerconish.
Perhaps Schumer got wind of this smarter political thinking.
