Fun With Ferrets

OMG! OMG! Trump Administration is in turmoil! They’re going to dump Sean Spicer as Press Secretary! He’s screwed everything up!

As reported by Fake News Site, CNN:

The White House is ramping up its search for a new communications director in an effort to lighten the load of embattled White House press secretary Sean Spicer, multiple sources told CNN.

A source familiar with internal communications said President Donald Trump is disappointed in Spicer's performance during the first two weeks of the administration.

A longtime Republican operative, Spicer is a close ally of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus. According to the source close to the hiring process, Trump is upset with Priebus over the selection of Spicer for arguably the administration's most visible position, next to the President.

"Priebus vouched for Spicer and against Trump's instincts," the source said.

The President "regrets it every day and blames Priebus," the source added.

But a senior administration official says Trump supports Spicer "100%."

Best guess as to what’s actually going on:

There’s a leaker somewhere in the White House.

ferret5

Trump hates leakers.

Best way to ferret a leaker out?

ferrets

Feed them fake news. Something sweet, that they can’t resist.

ferret ice cream

They’ll run with it:

ferrets-3

I’m guessing somebody is going to be ushered out of the White House next week but it’s not likely to be Spicer.

I put it this way: every morning. Trump outs a piece of cheese in a maze, fake news scurries while Trump governs and wins.

I had to send a young weasel to the state health department to be examined for rabies. It looked just like a ferret except for the chest coloring and it was the size of a ferret. Anyone else have trouble discerning a little weasel from a ferret?

I have seen Spicer in action only sparsely. So maybe I missed something. But my first impressions left me wanting more. He seemed a bit over his head.

But I give him credit for holding ground on the front lines of this intense cultural/political war.

However, I would welcome more muscled up-in your face- confrontational style from the Press Sec.

I think the left would view it as a victory if Spicer was replaced this early in the game and I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t matter who is standing up there answering the questions-the left is going to attack him or her. I’m not inclined to start giving the left victories like that.

Thanks for wasting a half hour of my time while I "researched" your question and ended up watching ferret videos. I wouldn't want one for a pet myself, but I would like to have a friend with one because the tube rats look fun and cute.

Ferrets leave a strong and distinctive odor. They love to crap in inaccessible places, just to make cleaning more difficult.

And they run off with keys and things like that.

Just. Don't.

The many reasons along with digging I want a friend to have one, but not me.

Similar to a friend's pet rabbits. Cute little buggers, but they have never learned that electrical wires are not nibbly treats.

Ferrets and weasels are part of the family mustelidae. They’re functionally identical. Ferrets, however, are mostly domesticated and don’t survive long in the wild.

Ferret musk ranges from slight to strong, but anything overwhelming usually means the gland removal was incomplete. I've had dozens of ferrets throughout my life, and the strongest odor comes from bathing. Ferrets should never be bathed. Instead, like chinchillas, they can be given a powder bath or a tub of sand to keep them "clean." They love to dig, so it's a good way to keep them busy.

They will, however, as you say, run off with keys and other things. They can be very mischievous. I had a dedicated room for my ferts, stripped of carpet and any other accoutrements. They are not in the habit of crapping in inaccessible places if you 1) litter train them and 2) don't let them have full reign of your home.

Ferrets are NOT for everyone. They require special attention and really should be kept in their own space. They play very well with cats and dogs if introduced early on. Any new puppies we brought home were crated in the same room as our "business," and they played very well. Ferrets will kill or maim animals such as rats and rabbits if left alone with them, as they are natural prey for mustelids.

A bunch of years ago I used to live in an apartment building. One Saturday morning I was washing my car in the side parking lot when a black lady walked by and said she and her daughter had been attacked by a weasel........Well, knowing there were no weasels in the area, I kinda figured what it was.

Sure enough, about 10 minutes later a ferret walked out from under a bush along side the building. Since I had always wanted a ferret, and Michigan made them legal to own about a year prior, I took it in.

Well, you're right, they stink. I bathed the little guy several times but still couldn't get rid of the odor.

Keep in mind that I knew who the ferret escaped from since I had seen it on the guy's balcony. He was a punk thug who hung around with other bandana carrying thugs. So instead of returning it to him, the following Monday morning I took it to a vet that was a member of a ferret rescue group that had been created in anticipation of new ferret owners wanting to give them up for adoption due to various reasons - primarily because they stink........
