But the real solution is a new tax code
While the media seemed more interested in an off-the-cuff joke he made about Arnold Schwarzenegger, there was real substance that came out of President Trumps appearance on Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast. Quite unlike his predecessor choosing to use this forum to tell Christians to get off their high horses, Trump reiterated his commitment to repealing the Johnson Amendment.
Trump talked about this during the election and the other day at the prayer breakfast. The media just focused on Arnold Schwarzenegger comments. Trump should keep throwing the media brainless bones as he escorts his conservative agenda through congress.
The givernment has the right to limit certain things as a result of taking benefits , even in the area of taxes.
But, while this means the crazies can spew their bile, we also will be able to promote our agenda collectively.
I’ll take this one.
What committed Church would allow a small worldly thing like a tax exemption prevent them from speaking the full word of God?
Just pay whatever tax is due and tell the IRS to go away, except if they want to sit in on a service.
Since the crazies have bee spewing their bile for decades, especially in b lack churches. So at least now maybe we’ll have a level playing field.
This would never pass the Senate. Republicans can’t even repeal Obamacare
I’ve had my johnson amended twice. I wouldn’t recommend it.
That’s the third time I’ve used that and it isn’t even good!!
black liberation theology preachers never had any fears, nor did imams.
After all, moonbat/racist Communist Black churches have been doing so for a half-century without fear of the law.
The power to tax is the power to control. That’s why our religious organizations are tax free. Our forefathers knew this.
Unfortunately President Johnson also knew this, and decided to go around their intent, and by passing the amendment shut down free speech from the pulpits.
He knew full well truth spoken from the pulpit could cause problems for the future aims of the socialist leaning Democrat party. He knew that the pulpits in the colonies were used to fight for the establishment of our nation, and also knew that the pulpits would be used to oppose the future plans of the socialist movement in America.
Democrats (Socialists) know that when good people who obey the law by nature are gagged by fear, they can get their way more easily.
Strange is it not, that some have ‘civil’ rights, and the rest of US lost our Bill of Rights? These liberal devils had help from the dark side, and I am not referencing skin color.
Not a light thing. The fines are heavy for church, not to mention open to lawsuits.
"Bill to repeal Johnson Amendment would mean your CONSERVATIVE pastor can speak freelywithout fear of the IRS
Bill to repeal Johnson Amendment would mean your pastor can speak freelywithout fear of the IRS...
Like African-American pastors do.
He, He, Mine has been all along!!!
I don’t have much faith in preachers even if they were free to talk. Unfortunately most of the are too concerned they’ll offend half of their donors.
More snowflakes not just melting but sublimating.
Black churches have never paid any attention to that law...their preachers constantly speak against the “white establishment”.....Rev. Wright for example.
The power to tax is the power to destroy.
