Democrat boycott of Price, Mnuchin hearings fails; GOP OKs both without them

Petulance not rewarded today

Congratulations to Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee. They have achieved an almost impossible goal: They refused to show up and do their jobs, and yet they somehow managed to fail at not doing them.

As a result, that nominations of Tom Price for Secretary of Health and Human Services and Steve Mnuchin for Secretary of the Treasury are on their way to the full Senate for likely confirmation. The Democrats’ gambit was boycott the Finance Committee votes on both nominees, thus preventing the Republican majority from taking a vote because the rules say there has to be at least one Democrat present. Cute idea. And it failed. The Republicans simply suspended the rules and took the vote any, which is exactly what they should have done:

Dems must have memory issues—WE DO NOT NEED THEM to vote.

Democrats are evidencing their astounding stupidity. Nothing they have tried to reduce the authority of President Trump has worked. They have failed with absolute consistency to achieve anything at all. The reason is easy to understand. they honestly believe the Trump presidency is as stupid as they are. The arrogance of ignorance runs strong and deep with the progressive crowd.

Let’s get Sessions done, so he can go to work on Hillary!

President Trump has the GOP-e playing hardball. Without Mr. Trump, the spineless GOP would be on bent knees begging the commieRats for cooperation.

I would love to be in the discussions where Tump is telling McConnell to “just get it done. Now. What is stopping you?”

It is fun seeing government work on business time, and in the direction I approve.

All these Dimbats have done is to prove that they are not needed, they are not useful, they are not helpful, and if they want to continue to act like spoiled, petulant brat children, the adults are perfectly capable and willing to continue working (and accomplishing!) without them.

They are cementing their own irrelevance to the process, and will go down hard in the 2018 mid-terms as a direct result. This proves to me two vital and highly improbable realities:

1) God has the Dimbats self-destructing. And they are unaware that He is doing it, and consequently are incapable of stopping or altering it.

2) Trump has somehow made the Republicans in the House and Senate grow some big, nasty balls. I hardly recognize these previously miraculously shrinking violets, now taking principled stands and acting with moral authority, and damn the torpedoes!

Two miracles in one sweet package. This could be habit forming...

Some analysts are suggesting they may hold off on Sessions until after the DeVos vote, because they may need him to put her over the top.

Trump should state that he can, and will, get the job done with or without the “children on the left.”

I thought Sen. Sessions didn’t have to resign until he was sworn in.

Reminds me of the Soviets boycotting the UN Security council at the start of the Korean War.

This is what happens when politicians turn professional and only talk among themselves for 20 or 30 years.

The Dems just can’t wrap their heads around the fact that they are no longer in power.

Great.

We really need to drag DeVos across the finish line, though.

What does it take to change the filibuster rule on the senate floor for SCOTUS? Can Dems filibuster a rule change to the filibuster rule?
