The Washington Post reported Tuesday evening https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/resistance-from-within-federal-workers-push-back-against-trump/2017/01/that there is a growing wave of opposition from the federal workers charged with implementing President Donald Trumps agenda.
What Breitbart News called the coup of the bureaucrats earlier this week is well under way, with apparent coordination by former Obama administration officials working on the outside:
(snip)
..... As former Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Tevi Troy wrote recently, in recalling challenges George W. Bush faced in confronting the bureaucracy, firing is usually not an option: Another thing we learned about early on was the lifetime tenure rulestechnically known as civil-service protections. These rules made it exceedingly difficult to fire even obstinate and uncooperative career officials. It was easier, he said, to find ways to work around particular employees and offices. He advises......
There is another option: have Congress cut the departments, or parts of them. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is looking for ways to trim spending, and President Trump has some new spending priorities, like the border wall, infrastructure, and the military.
Both would welcome opportunities to get rid of federal excess. .....

We need to retrench the Capital when we have Republican Presidents!
May be costly to build a new Capital in a conservative stronghold somewhere over flyover country.
I don’t like that our President is in a city that voted primarily regressive progressive democrat!
A town that allows our first family to be threaten with violence, abused by the opposition party media, promotes violent riots, who’s hired Secret Service are allowed to not do their jobs!
We should have a glorious new capital where our elected leaders and their families would be safe during Republican Presidencies! Where our constituencies can work and serve them!
So, cut the departments by say, 90%, and then add back a new 20% if absolutely needed. Many departments should be abolished making it that much harder to come back in the future.

So much gold here, I don't even know where to start.
recalling challenges George W. Bush faced in confronting the bureaucracy......These rules made it exceedingly difficult to fire even obstinate and uncooperative career officials
The usual Cuckservative, especially Bush, excuse.
"I was President of the United States, but was powerless to do anything!" *sniffle*
firing is usually not an option:.........lifetime tenure rulestechnically known as civil-service protections.
Even I, a basement dwelling internet troll, can see a solution to this problem.
But I'll give Glorious Leader Trump the future credit:
Trump: "Screw that. We're getting rid of that rule. Next item on the agenda?"
These damn pathetic Republicans are so incompent and weak, it makes my blood boil. You are elected to be in charge!
I find it amazing that the President of the USA can be stymied by a random government employee because there are "rules" that prevent them from being fired.
And Bush just went along with it.
Amazing Amazing Amazing.
Abolish should be the word of the day, every day. DRAIN THE SWAMP.
Human Resources can reorganize a department thus eliminating jobs or change the job descriptions and lessen the job responsibilities and thus the pay. Another tool is to evaluate the job performance of everyone and counsel the employee if their job performance isn’t up to par and then counsel them again if they don’t correct their job deficiencies.
My guess is that there are people willing in every department to point out, behind closed doors, the RATs who have been leaking and following orders from the DNC and RAT Senators and Congressman.
HR Professionals on FR can elaborate.
Start by getting rid of Energy, Education, EPA.
Make 'em all pee in a cup for drug testing purposes every morning.
I'm old enough to remember the pollution back in the 70s. The EPA was a necessity back then.
I'd rather not revisit them, that's why I'm not thrilled with entirely doing away with the agency. However - it should be in "maintenance mode", more or less keeping the status quo, preventing things from getting too out of hand. I also can see the need for some sort of federal level regulatory body that can mediate between states - throwing something in the river in Minnesota *will* go downstream....
But the current out of control monster? Defining every mud puddle as a "wetland" and every roadside drainage ditch as a "navigable waterway"? A 50% cut might not be enough.
That’s a lot of broken windows (since they probably don’t open).
But, hey, I’ll help pay for it; it would be worth it in the long run.
Yeah, here’s a thought: let’s start enforcing laws on sedition and treason.
Not unlike a failed corporation that refuses to adapt, like Tower Records.
You mean their civil service special privileges - the standard ploy by communists for all their favored groups.
Sedition will get you 20 years plus fine.
Treason will get you executed............which is fine..........
Bush was not weak, he was complicit.
The Uni-Party is two sides of the same coin: Republicans are the Washington Generals, or the Good (but Weak) Cop. They have an assigned role.
That is why Bush never defended his administration. He was helping the globalists and the Saudis set up Soetoro to take the job.
Trump isn’t interested in being a do-nothing figurehead for globalist puppet masters.
That is why they hate and fear him - especially including the treacherous Bushes.
Sometimes I forget that.
Thinking about that bastard makes me so mad I get confused.
I still like heaping hate onto his legacy with the weak and incompetent stuff.
I also remember the pollution from before. It was bad.
But once we met all the pollution requirements, and our power plants emit essentially no pollution, they have changed the goal-post to “no carbon”. Which means, they have lost the plot.
So like you we need an agency, but this one has gone out of control. It needs to be reined in dramatically.
Given the fun factor associated with using their own heads to break the windows, I’d say the tab is worth it.

How about make them study tropical plants. In northern Alaska, living and working in gp medium tents. Make them cut there own wood and hunt for food. Plus give them Obama care.
