If 'I'm no fan of Trump' didn't give me pause, 'In my recently published Ted lecture on rejection' would have me running for the exits.
And probably the barf bags.
It goes to the heart of most people’s desires: we want to be popular/loved/admired and we’re willing to do almost anything to get it.
Trump did the opposite. He made his unpopularity an asset and a source of strength. He projected confidence and bravado in the face of overwhelming odds. Most people wouldn’t or couldn’t do it.
He won by making the election a referendum on his opponent rather than him. If you can diminish your enemy and raise yourself, you will win. The advice isn’t from Trump; its from Machiavelli.
The man who plays politics better than the rest and uses the passions of human nature to dominate others, is a winner. Its a script as old as time. Studying it can lead us to learn how Trump succeeded where others had failed.
No. I don't think he's even been on the channel. He was interviewed by a local Fox affiliate somewhere, but I think this is one of those random op-eds that papers and websites run to fill out their space.

Definitely. He's pushing his own theory. Still, there is something in it. Trump definitely took a very different route from the one politicians take. He wasn't trying not to offend every last possible voter group. Maybe somebody can come up with a better way of expressing what he did than "using the power of rejection."

I’ll bite. Call it the Microbrew Revolution Theory of Politics. As I grew to love craft brewing, it became clear that mainstream brewers (the Buds and Millers of the world) were not incompetent at their craft, but based their corporate strategy on offending the fewest number of drinkers, in an effort to expand their appeal to new markets. As a result, their totally bland product continually evolved in the direction of milquetoast over time...it didn’t taste bad... it just didn’t taste at all.
It is like the establishment pols who test each message of theirs on focus groups, refuse to go on the limb for anything, they end up as useless as teats on a boar. Trump, in contrast, is the amazingly hoppy IPA, which bites the palate, lingers in the throat, and offends every liberal beer drinker in the room. But it is so darn impressive it captivates all in the room. (You get the drift of my analogy)

I am my own subject of study when it comes to the question, "Why did Trump appeal to me?"
As far as I perceive an answer, it is that he "stepped up" and"spoke out" when others were unwilling or unable to do so. He was daring! Fearless, even! When everyone else was ruled by calculation. That is the Calculus of Fortune.
Thank you for posting this. Yes, he is touting his product. Yes, he is not a Trump supporter. Yes, there are other reasons Trump won. But after a quick read I’d say there is some validity to his argument. Trump really doesn’t care about rejection and he knows how to use it. There’s a lesson there for all of us.
The Power of Rejection is the arrogant salesman who does not respect the answer no, he continues to send email spam and US mail spam to your mailbox.
He should be in prison.

I think Donald Trump is just a supremely talented man who also happens to be an American patriot.
He didn’t plan the events that took place over the last year. No man is capable of such future event planning. Or of conceiving a sociological scheme of such complexity as to stir the wildest psychosis now demonstrated in the media, and by this author.
He set a course and gave it his all, because he wants to do what’s right for the US.
