The American people dont want to condescended to.
They dont want to go to the movies and watch some flick about the far left political agenda.
They want to be entertained; to escape reality.
What a concept!
Miss Sloane was just released and its all about gun control. It earned $1.9 million while playing in 1,648 theaters.
Thats insanely awful.
From Fox News:
Movie goers werent too interested in Miss Sloane, a film that explores the gun control debate from the perspective of a lawyer who is lobbying for universal background checks for gun ownership. Still, the films leading lady, Jessica Chastain, landed a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination for the poorly received flick.
The film, which premiered in select cities on Thanksgiving, hit more theaters this past weekend, and it fizzled in its wide expansion, earning $1.9 million from 1,648 locations.
According to Deadline, Miss Sloane cost $13 million to produce.
Time to regroup, Hollywood.
Middle America wants you to cut the BS and start making movies for those of us who dont live in either New York or California.
Like Nike taught us just do it!
Evidently
They will probably spent more on tv ads than what the film will gross $ wise.
Don’t you love it, when liberals waste their money trying to tell us what not to do, like own guns.
That's because the oligarchy wants it to have one for political reasons.
Mathematically that is a tremendous flop.
$1.9m / 1648 locations = $1,152 per site.
Average of $12/ticket = 96 butts in seats.
Considering most people would not go to a flick like this alone, = 48 theatres. 1600 theatres were empty.
Try getting a production company to agree to this as a model, the only motivation would have to be ideological. They could not even cover the actresses salary...
13 Million is a drop in the bucket for Hollyweird “Virtue Signalling.”
Sum of all fears is the one you’re thinking about. In the Clancy book the bad guys are basically Iranian and in the Affleck/Morgan Freeman movie they change it to white Eastern Europeans.
What is it about Hollywood repeatedly putting out these movies that are essentially DOA at the box office? It appears that they really don’t care about losing money. Is it a “Producers” scenario where they make more money by losing money?
Yeah...Hollywood totally ruined Clancy's great book 'The Sum of All Fears" by changing the culprits to angry white males. I'm speaking second hand of course, because when I heard that they changed the plot I refused to see it.
No. The Golden Globes are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Only working members can vote.
The SAG awards are given by fellow actors, the awards being peer reviewed. I am a voting member.
The Oscars are given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Awards are voted on by academy members in an award’s discipline in the industry. Members must be invited to join.
You are thinking of the People’s Choice awards, which is reflective of online voting, with the nominees whose by Golden Globs production staff and editors of Entertainment Weekly.
Hope that helps!
that movie was made with the expectations of a Clinton presidency.....HA! YOU nutted up Hollywood.
If it only made 2 Million, it lost a lot more than 10 Million.
Ping.
Looks like this was a flop.
I suppose a flop could have a great job of acting in it, but somehow don’t you think that would get known and drive some action at the gate?
“Jessica Chastain, landed a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination - - “
Something on the order of obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize.
Liberals are all about gun control until the realize the ferals won’t cooperate.
She’s Ron Howard’s daughter, if I remember correctly, and very hard Left.
Jessica Chastain?
I didn’t realize Howard had kids. I figured he’d be like Andy Taylor and only date. :>)
Where did the money come from and
Where did it go?
***I know that there exists a huge portion of the population that gets their understanding (sad to say) from TV and movies.***
Alas, true. Most get their history lessons from movies. One should NEVER watch a movie like LITTLE BIG MAN about the Indian Wars without first reading Burke’s ON THE BORDER WITH CROOK.
Same for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Read the history first from several sources, AND newspapers from that time.
