Do you like to shoot the .22 pistols? Have you tried the Ruger Mark 4, or the S&W Victory Pistol?
The all-new Ruger Mark 4 Pistol has lovers and haters. On the other hand, the S&W competition, the Victory Pistol, equally has fans and non-fans.
The guy from 22 Plinkster fired both and examined the pros and cons of both pistol models. He goes over which one is more simple to work with as far as taking apart and which has the better grip.See the full action here, what about you, which one do you like to use for plinking around?
Maybe .22lr will become affordable now. We know whom to thank.
When it does, I will bring out my .22’s for leisurely plinking. They include:
Erma RX-22 as noted
My grandfather’s H&R Model 999 Sportsman
Dad’s Ruger Mk 1 as noted
Erma ET-22, long barreled imitation of Luger 1902 Carbine
And....Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece. The Cadillac of the collection.
Sure is neat not having to sweat the next four years.
It would have to be. Only Rube Goldberg on a bender could dream up a more devilish design than the mark 3 22/45 to clean.
I could make a coke can jump down the gravel path for at least 25 yards before I missed.
Too bad about your Erma. It has nice heft but is made of something other than steel.
The RX-22 turns up on gunbroker.com fairly often. Usually not too expensive. Numrich is out of slides so I checked Bob’s Gun Parts. That model is not on his Erma list but he has magazines for it so you might want to ask about a slide.
I shoot a hundred rounds every weekend through my Buckmark.
I neglected to clean it monthly as I usually do and it went full auto on me. The firing pin was so gunked up it did not retract and after the first round I had to hold on while it finished the magazine.
My buddy and I like to play a game with a golf ball, try to see who can hit it first, until somebody knocks it into the woods.
I have found the slide a couple of times but it is always a stripped slide. I suspect the internal parts and hammer drop safety are still OK but I have no idea how to get them out.
I have had a Mark IV for nearly 20-years and it is a fantastic weapon. Will definitely hit what you aim at. My only beef is that it is not the most easy to break down for cleaning but it is great!
From the June 2000 American Rifleman:
http://www.nramuseum.com/media/364370/Jun%2000.pdf
"The IZH-35M surprised us and soundly
demonstrated it would easily outshoot
entry-level target pistols and hold its own
with more expensive models."
Sounds like you had so much oil/grease on it that it was lube-sick. Have never, ever had that happen, and shoot with guys likewise who, if cleaning ever needed, have to shoot at least a box full to get the accuracy back.
I shoot an old K22 S&W made in the 50’s.It’s an accurate .22 plinker.
Just went to the indoor range yesterday with my Ruger Mark III, love that little pistol. Put a red dot site/scope on, and I can still put 10/10 in a DVD size spot target 40 yards out. Prolly put 400 rounds through it in less than an hour. Fun, but danged if I don’t have to re-learn breaking that sucker down (actually putting back together) every time I clean it.
Just about any quality .22 LR pistol will consistently hit a coke can at 100 yards. That does require a good rest tho.
Smith Model 41 and SIG Trailside. Had a number of Rugers, worked well, but not in the same league.
> Wow. Were you a tunnel rat? TYFYS!
No. Navy.
They’d only gave us those 22s occasionally for a some op, and then they’d collect them back up when we got back.
You have some inside info on this?
Cool. I hope it passes but skeptical. Why would they give the peasants anything?
