Right-wing militia groups have grown steadily since the 2008 election of President Barack Obama and they continue to grow, according to a new report released this week.
The left-leaning Political Research Associates published Up in Arms: A Guide to Oregons Patriot Movement during a presidential election season thats seen Republican nominee Donald Trump appeal to such right-wing groups while Democrat Hillary Clinton has been the subject of ire for those same groups.
The report says Oregon has one of the most developed militia movements in the country and it details the rise of the movement, including events and groups that have developed in the state in recent years.
The Patriot movement came about in Oregon and elsewhere in the wake of the 1990s militia movement. At the core of their beliefs is the idea that the federal government threatens their freedoms.
These groups are often armed and advocate defying federal laws they think are unconstitutional, the report says, adding militias employ an inside/outside strategy as some members work to change things from within the government, while those on the outside undermine the system.

Why are the authors of the study more worried about these legal groups than illegal groups paid by the Democrats to violently disrupt the political process?
Some would, and might still, label me crazier than Alex Jones(who probably isn’t sounding so crazy anymore) for thinking that this country couldn’t break up. Hope it doesn’t, but it needs a serious cleaning out and re-alignment of the values and ideals that made it great and a complete rejection of all things “Left, Progressive, Liberal, Socialist”.
A Russian economist wrote about it. At the time, it may have seemed like nothing but propaganda from Putin, but maybe not so much anymore. While I do think there’s a chance it could, I don’t definitely don’t think the map in the WSJ article is even remotely close to how it would shake out. No way that any part of this country would ever come under the control of Canada and certainly not Mexico.

Anywho, if it ever did happen, I think the South, Midwest and Mountain states would band together. Parts of Eastern Washington and Oregon, both of which are completely different than their fellow statesmen from the western parts of their states, would want in. Throw in NorCal, WVa, Western Virgina & Maryland, Western Pennsylvania, and whatever country that would become of that comglomeration would have pretty much have all the energy resources to sustain itself. The West Coast and Northeast, to include Md, Del, DC and Northern Va, would die on the vine.

I hope they remember at least half are Fed Gov agent infiltrators. If I were a member I would start offing the other members. You got better than a 50/50 chance of offing a traitor. I would pray the “mistakes” would forgive me.
So, if they are part of a milita, I guess the liberals will have to acknowledge their full 2nd Amendment rights, won’t they?

Good boundary lines. I have lived in many towns in the areas you described and that's where the salt of the earth people are. 'Live and let live' types who believe in Freedom and The Constitution.

The beltway can continue to have their meetings and the pundits et al can talk all they want. America would be back!

Laws that they think are unconstitutional ???
I challenge these Oregon militias to make sure that they are up to speed with the following Constitution-related material, including excerpts from Supreme Court case opinions, this material probably fitting on 2 pages.
Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers and other powers that the states delegated to the feds expressly via the Constitution.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Regarding the last point, note that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate civilian-use firearms.
