Which knot do use to climb a wet rope?

If you're into rappeling or knot tying for fun or practical survival, have a look at this Bachmann knot. You're going to need it if you're going to encounter climbing up a wet rope. For those not familiar with it, the Bachmann knot is a uni-directional, meaning it can only be loaded from one direction and that's down. Again, its something that most survivalist should know, but how many have actually practice climbing with it? See the video here.

I tell that joke a lot. For some reason, most people are not amused.

Thank you! I am going to pass it on to my former co-workers; we were trained to use the Prusik knot for this type of application for rope rescue. I was not familiar with this knot, but the advantages for wet and icy rope seem obvious especially after watching the video.

Yeah, Prussick knots can replace an ascender in a pinch. Used to be a spelunker when I weighed 150 lbs. now at 200 those days are long gone.

Never had cause to climb a wet rope and don’t see one in my future.

This reminds me of “The Prestige” when they are arguing about which knot is better to tie someone up in a tank full of water.
