My opinion, but I would really support a Trump/Cruz ticket.

As Pat Buchanan says, it would be electrifying.

Cruz has become a tool of the establishment to block the citizens from electing a President who would stop The Cheap Labor Express.

He knows exactly what he is doing.
I want him no where near the ticket.
His globalist mask is completely off.

Cruz is ineligible to be VP and will get destroyed by the Left.

“the establishment does not want him or any other outsider winning the nomination”

Obviously that goes for Trump too.

The key is that the GOPe cannot throw out the votes from the primaries after asking people to participate.
If Trump has a large lead he will get the GOPe delegates’ votes on the first ballot- at a small price.
If it’s closer he’ll get their votes on a later ballot at a higher cost.

Ted would have to nearly tie Trump for the GOPe to give him the nomination- even if they wanted him.

Cruz has NO chance on a second ballot. His function is to force a second ballot, or rather, to give cover for having a second ballot instead of changing the rules to untie all the delegates on the first ballot. A second ballot will be used to select someone the GOPe has already decided on and that is someone who may not be even officially running.

I used to, but I don’t anymore.

Cruz has become someone who I cannot vote for.

It is logical for Cruz to side with Trump NOW and lock in the vice presidency.

__________________________________________

Ridiculous on so many levels.

1. Cruz would never take the veep position.
2. Trump would never offer it.
3. Trump would never align himself with the GOP-e or any of their boys.
4. Etc.

Remind me which states with actual VOTERS has Cruz WON, aside from Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska’s caucus by a sliver and Wisconsin?

I don’t like Trump and I have supported Cruz because I know he would govern as a conservative despite the bs thrown around hereby Trump supporters. But Trump has won fair and square picking Cruz as a running mate would be a mistake. Going in I knew Cruz had a problem and that problem was a likeability thing. If anything he has gotten worse.

Trump seems to have gotten some advice from adults. Not one Lying Ted or Low Energy Jeb last night. Very impressed. Trump would do himself a big favor by finding a Republican woman insider who has spent a couple of decades in DC who can pass muster with a wide swath of voters and an ability to gut Hillary as well as Carly Fiorina has gutted her.

I don’t fault Cruz for playing political hardball one bit. Sick of conservatives who will not fight. But he just brings nothing to a Trump ticket. Trump will win Texas easily. It’s Florida, Ohio and Virginia he has to target hard.

Like I said I don’t like Trump but I despise Hillary and freeloading commie pos of Vermont. So I will pull for Trump now since NY demonstrated that Cruz has a very narrow appeal among moderates like New Yorkers.

It is teds only path. If he does not do what he called for in Pennsylvania ( time to unite our party and beat Hillary) then he will devolve into Ron Paul status

I think it’s more logical that Kasich would be the VP rather than Cruz for several reasons. While it’s obvious that the Establishment’s influence has greatly decreased, they need to be thrown a bone and Kasich as VP could placate them enough, ala Bush in 1980. Further, Kasich would help in Ohio, a swing state.

As a Cruz supporter I’d rather he stay in the senate. First, he could be helpful there in keeping a President Trump in line with conservative principles, something he couldn’t do as VP. Second, if Trump reverts to his old liberal/moderate ways he’d be able to challenge him in 2020.

Besides 8 years of attending funerals is a long time to wait to be next in line.

If your state hasn’t voted you might as well stay home because your vote won’t count anyway. Unless it’s a vote for Trump of course. Trump’s won it fair and square. He’s got the most delegates. It doesn’t matter what the rules are. He has the most delegates and if he gets less than the total needed he should win anyway. According to his speechh he helped clean up after the 7 11 attack did you know? Anyone got a picture of that?

[[He would need 678 delegates to reach 1237 and only 620 delegates remain. Obviously, that is impossible.]]

True- but theoretically, he could get to say within 50 of 1237 and trump could be down 150

I wonder if that were to by some miracle happen if trump and his supporters would be saying “He’s closer than we are, so let him have it”?

But, here's the kicker, and many are not considering it as they think about an open convention and Cruz perhaps emerging victorious on some subsequent ballot. Cruz would STILL need those 469 delegates to close the gap to reach 1237 on the 2nd ballot. Even worse is that a huge percentage of his bound delegates can desert him on the second ballot.

You are forgetting that the same rules apply to Trump. Trump does not retain all of his first ballot-bound delegates, either. Trump will see more desertion of "his" delegates to Cruz than vice versa.

I think Cruz's scenario goes like this:

Trump goes into the convention with somewhat less than the 1237 needed. The further from that figure Trump is then the better it is for Cruz.

The first ballot is taken, nobody has a majority. At this point delegates are no longer bound to the candidate they voted for.

In the second round the Trump delegates that were recruited from Cruz supporters change their votes to Cruz. Cruz argues that Trump has peaked and momentum is shifting his way. That only his vote totals are going up.

On the third ballot he hopes to convert Rubio and, perhaps, Kasich voters to his side. In any case his vote total has to continue to increase for his argument to make any sense.

Fourth ballot or later Cruz is able to win.

Wildly optimistic? Perhaps. But at this point it's the only chance Cruz has.

From another thread:

This is what happened: the RATS knew the country would vote for a mangy cat if it would promise to reverse all the damage they had done to Americans. So they had to put up someone to run under the R banner using populist allure: hence Bill’s little talk with Donald. The most painful injuries Obama gleefully maimed us with would be the running platform, promising to repeal and reverse them. Americans bit hard on the bait, propelling Trump further than he himself expected. Now an anonymous aid let slip today that Sanders is a VP possible pick for Hillary until he wears out next year and she replaces him with Castro. Then she declines a second term and Castro wins ‘20.This is what Cruz discovered and why he is running to win: the RATS have us checkmated. Sound far-fetched? Why? Donald has repeatedly told conservatives who he is, but half are so desperate to reverse the last 8 years they’ll believe ANYBODY who promises to stop the bleeding.

When Cruz was putting together a plan to control illegals from Mexico, that week Trump was castigating Romney for being ‘too harsh’ on illegals, hence his loss. Google it.

When Cruz was filibustering and fighting Obamacare all by himself, Trump was praising Scotland and Canada’s socialist healthcare. Google it.

The reason Cruz won’t unite with Trump - much to my chagrin - is he knows DT is a RAT Trojan Horse. He realizes it’s better to lose, then call Trump out on his failed promises for four years, then run again in ‘20.
