Even before the devastating effects of a thorough beating in New York’s Republican primary crash down on Ted Cruz, his fortunes are waning in California.
Not only is he now trailing by 7 points (39/32) after moving up to a statistical tie with Donald Trump, then fading; but the level of enthusiasm among Cruz supporters is falling rapidly.
A Field Poll conducted in California during January found that enthusiasm levels among Trump’s supporters was at 55%. That level has improved to 58% today. While that might not sound impressive when compared to the number among Cruz supporters which is currently at 61%, its value comes in the fact that in January, Field found that Cruz supporters were 74% enthusiastic about the Texas Senator’s candidacy.
What’s more, Field found that many of the same people who delivered a stunning victory to Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2003 special election are supporting Trump this year. They will vote for Trump at a rate of 54/21 over Cruz.
To be sure Trump has his work cut out for him in California. While it is true it is a “winner take all” state, California awards Republican delegates to the winner in each of the Golden State’s 53 Congressional districts and just 10 for the over- all winner and only 3 Super Delegates.
The general moribund condition of the California Republican Party largely mirrors that of the Republican Party in Trump’s home state of New York. Within the lifetime of many California Republicans and New York Republicans, their Party was victorious in statewide races and delivered their Electoral College Votes to help bring about Ronald Reagan’s huge landslide victory...

No state in the US gets screwed harder than CA.
And even lierals are sick of it.
We’re about to get a bullet train fired up our azz.
And no one wants it.
BILLIONS upon BILLIONS flushed.
Selling our most arable lands to Saudis.
Draconian taxes.
Insane “minimum wage laws.”
Impossible regulations on business.
Constant land grabs.
Good grief.
It is amazing - California’s primary vote matters vitally this year! God please guide your people in California and every other state!
We attended the Las Vegas GOP convention for the county delegates.
Over 1200 attended. Speakers for Cruz were not there.
Even Kasich had a spokesperson stand up for him.
Trump had a speaker talk up Trump, but no Cruz person.
The county where Vegas resides went 49 percent for Trump,
Cruz finished a distant 3rd behind Rubio.
Most all of the Delegates were wearing Trump badges, hats , shirts, and carrying Trump signs.
Cruz had a table and a very few visited it, while the Trump table was signing up delegates to go to the state convention on May 13 and 14th Reno Nevada. Lines at the Trump booth were backed up to sign up and they had a staff or 8 people handling the sign up.
I think Nevada was the only Caucus state that Cruz lost.
Bye the way, most all in attendance voted to end the Caucus in Nevada. 4 years ago Romney won and Paul wound up with 75% of the delegates, that kind of fraud isn’t welcome here.
I have never seen a Cruz supporter or sticker here in SoCal.
It would be Ironic if GOP grassroots in California put Trump over the top on the first ballot, from their positions of serfdom in the People's Democrat Republic of California.
If Fields has Trump by 7, double that number.
Cruz will arrive after he denies Trump the 50% needed to make a statement. Then it’s on to Calif. The GOP will deny Trump the nomination short of the 1237 needed. If they deny Cruz at the same time it’s over. We blew it again.
The news here in SF just reported happily that “undocumented children” will now be eligible for Medi-Cal.

Every last American in California is voting for Trump. Cruz is just One of Them: their “his” community, as he said to Jorge Ramos.
Just a comment...SurveyUSA has always turned out to be dead on, at least in my experience.
They actually get a sample of real people.
When Trump has small leads in the polls, Cruz generally beats him. Cruz is going to win California and prevent any chance of Liberal Donnie getting the nomination.
If they deny Trump it’s over and we blew it again.
Cruz is bought and paid for. Trump is a once in a lifetime chance to change a totally corrupt system in which 2 private entities make the rules to benefit themselves and their big donors while putting on a charade for the people who pay for it all.
We Californians are gonna make sure Mr. Trump gets plenty of delegates he needs to win. Then we will see what tricks the GOP will try to steal it from him!
Dream on. Cruz’s poll numbers in CA will drop to single digits after he takes his medicine in the NE states.
Trump will win CA.

D. Trump should win by greater margin than prop 187 did in '94.
What till he is no longer able to get 1237 legitimately around April 26th. The enthusiasm will really fall.
There is going the psychological factor that will hit the Cruz campaign when he is mathematically eliminated from achieving 1,237 delegates. At that point he becomes just another spoiler like Kasich.
Denies trump 50 percent where ?
