Via Breitbart and the Right Scoop, you can grumble about this if youre #NeverTrump but we all understand, I think, that the vast, vast majority of the party will come around to his position by November, right? Dont get me wrong, stalwart anti-Trumpers may have the numbers to fatally damage Trumps chances even if theyre just five percent of the electorate. But thats probably what theyll be five percent, not a third of the party despite how much fun it is to ooh and ahh over numbers like that. Never underestimate the power of partisanship, especially when youve got a Democrat as unlikable as Hillary topping the other ticket.
And even if five percent of Republicans do end up as #NeverTrumpers, thats not necessarily a death sentence for Trumps campaign. Why? Because some segment of Bernie fans claim that theyre #NeverHillary:
One out of four Sanders supporters 25 percent say they would not back Clinton in a general election if she became the Democratic nominee for president, while just 69 percent say they would support her, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.
By comparison, Clinton supporters are considerably more open to supporting Sanders should he overtake her large lead in delegates and win the nomination. Just 14 percent of Clinton supporters would shun him in the general election, while 79 percent would support him, the poll found.
Whats the actual number of Sanders supporters whod sit out an election with either Trump or Cruz, both of whom will be painted by Democrats as unprecedented threats to the republic, as GOP nominee? Two percent? Remember all the Hillary fans who vowed after 2008s bitter primary to loss to Obama that theyd never vote for him for president? Howd that work out?
Anyway, click the image to listen to a preview of what conservative medias apt to sound like this fall if Trump seals the deal in Cleveland. Levin has endorsed Cruz and has fiercely criticized Trump over the past few months (even over the Michelle Fields incident, which is unusual in major conservative media) but hes prepared to set that aside in the name of beating Clinton. I wonder where Glenn Beck, Trumps most strident critic in conservative talk radio dating back to last year, is on that. If anyones going to carry the #NeverTrump banner to the bitter end, its him.
Day of Reckoning, it seems. Apart from Michael Savage, I have found it utterly beyond rhyme nor reason why the vast majority of conservative talk radio have waged war on Mr. Trump in their promotion of Cruz. I have had to tune out the likes of Levin and Limbaugh for months. Rush slowly escalated his bias. And, I gathered that Levin was doing his damnedest because his fiancee’s son works for Cruz’s campaign.
What is most outrageous about all of this anti-Trump derangement is what should be a stark realization to all that is is Ted Cruz who is literally in BED with the GOP establishment in every way imaginable. I pray that all this damage is not a death knell to the general election (which I pray will see Mr. Trump elected in November)!!
It is rather understandable why the corrupt establishment and entrenched politicians fear and loathe Mr. Trump because they know full well he is intent on cleaning house. He represents a threat to their way of life. On the other hand, I cannot comprehend why right wing radio has engaged in this venomous crusade against an honest man and dedicated patriot like Donald Trump!!! SHAME!!!
You tell them! Yeah!
These two factions will unite at some point, because whatever divides them is basically trivial personality-driven details, and what will unite them is the common realization that the Democrats represent the final stage of an ongoing transformation of America into a make-believe magic unicorn kingdom with political correctness as its religion.
Which faction would that be? We had elected GOP leadership meeting in secret with rich DEMOCRATS in Georgia a few weeks ago during a heated primary season. On the agenda was “stopping Trump”. I always thought the uniparty thing was tin foil hat stuff but there it was. Plain as day.
His ratings are now swirling the crapper, so he’s changing his stance to the moral high ground: “must not!”
pfft.
If I'm dreaming then it's a Trump supporter-induced hallucination. "He's getting the first-timers, the Reagan democrats, the blue collars in the rust belt, etc." Don't tell me that has not been a major talking point around here.
What's speculative on my part is whether this core group of Trump supporters will switch to Cruz if he wins the nomination. I don't think they will. And unless a Trump supporter is going to try and convince me they left because they disagree with Cruz on tax or trade policy I think the reasonable position is that they left because their hero was thwarted at the convention. Nothing more.
As for the corporatization of politics I'm not set against the maxim that it takes a thief to catch a thief. But that supposes that what ails our nation is corporate in nature. What I can't do is make that leftist leap that because of Citizens United we end up with bad Supreme Court justices, bloated federal departments and government overreach.
That's the true difference between Trump and Cruz supporters. Trump supporters have bought into the line that it takes a person like Trump to rein in the corporate influence in politics. That does nothing to address the blatantly unconstitutional structures that pervade our government. Cruz supporters recognize that it requires a downsizing of the government to fix. Not somebody who says, "I can do a better job."
Nah...
Levin would rather go down with the ship before admitting having chosen a flawed candidate!
You’re a bizarre old coot, if I may say so sir. You just stay on the PC at all hours posting nonsense while fueled by pure hatred. You can never defend your losing candidate and choose just to attack people all day and night. You must donate a great deal for Jim Rob to tolerate you and obviously have no idea how foolish and immature you are for one who most would assume would be wise. Do you suffer from PTSD? In all honesty, I’d like to know bc it will affect the way many of us view and respond to you.
It must not be easy being you and I’ll certainly keep you in my prayers. Good luck.
The more assets you have, the better able you are to bribe. The more government agencies you have, the more people that have to be bribed. The more people companies have to hired who know how to bribe and stay within the law, or to change the law to their clients advantage. The more the law is in play, the more lawyers you have to have to find a wave to find the way not to obey the law while denying your competitors from doing the same. INC, not money is the mothers milk of politics.
I feel that way as well...These never trump folks are just destroying their own party, even thought they think they are saving it somehow...If the gop and conservative media would rally and support Trump, could you imagine what a strong front runner he would be?
And he still has a commanding lead which looks to get even larger by the end of the month...If you really love the conservative party, put aside your hatred of Trump and show some support.
It’s his first foray into politics and look how good he’s been doing while combating the media and his own party!
If Cruz was this legendary conservative, then he’d be in the lead by now, but all he is doing is playing the part of the GOPE spoiler. They would rather burn the party to the ground than lose an inch of power...The very evil we should unite against.
Because Trump has done the impossible by even making it this far, let alone being in the lead, in the face of enormous opposition. Literally every so called expert was wrong about him. If Trump can have this level of success fighting this much adversity, then he has my faith that he can win. He created a large political following in less than a year.
It’s a lot more difficult to do than being a first term senator with the backing of the party and millions of dollars now.
Clarity from TTFX:What would you call that if gracious ticks you off?
What about desperate? Desperate after seeing your audience shrink?
I have Men in Black but the hysteria displayed against Trump is witch-burning zealotry.
The Great One and Blubbery Beck have gone over the Reichenbach Falls in a strange embrace.
Cruz has a voice like fingernails on a chalkboard and an elevation locked below the belt.
He should stay in the senate.
Lol
True, it’s a problem on both sides for Trump and Cruz voters...honestly though, if Trumps sweeps the northeast it’s time that people put their hatred aside and rally around the front runner. If Trump is really close to 1237 and Cruz gets the nomination on the 2nd ballot, the Trump voters will still feel cheated and refuse to vote for Cruz or write in Trumps name in the general.
So then let’s say Cruz loses to Hillary, and all Cruz supporters will hear is I told you so from the Trump voters.
So I just don’t see how it helps trying to still support Cruz at this point, since even if he wins the 2nd ballot, he will lose the big election.
And after all Trump has gone through, I can’t see him going away after the primary...so it’s not looking good for Cruz no matter what...If he wins, he still loses.
Well said!
Why did Trump give to Democrats or any candidates, (Stop and think about this). Now, why is he taking NO money from ANYbody? He knows...who is Cruz going to have to pay back?
No, let me correct that statement.
YOU apparently *don't* know that.
Looking forward to your well-deserved ZOT.
Did a politician supply the computer you’re typing on ? Or a business?
