According to the latest primary results compiled at Green-Papers, it is certain that it will be impossible for Ted to reach the 1237 delegate count or comply with Rule 40 for the nomination. See the link, analyze the stats. and tell me, Why is Ted still in this race?
If he won, I would vote for Ted as I have for every R candidate in every Presidential race.
I support & would actively campaign for Ted - IF he wins the nomination.
He has a great deal of talent and ambition.
It is foolish to ‘not vote’ or sit and sulk and give the win to the Democrat party.
Always Put Our Country First!
Thanks,
This is the best ever forum and presidential election !
Mr. X-spurt.
You may need to study the Par-tay rules book.
For instance,
Florida delegates, (99) are legally bound through the 3RD ballot!
A ‘lil locked-in bonus pre-ordained to benefit Jeb!
“The GOPe cant stop Cruz from winning on a 2nd ballot.”
Cruz has been the most hated man in the Senate because he doesn’t play by “the rules” - “the rules” being those of the GOPe. The Dems hate him because he’s on the other side, who cares about that - but the GOPe won’t allow him to win. There will be a huge push to find a “consensus” candidate, i.e. not Trump or Cruz, but Bush, Mittens, Rubio, etc.
It’s like outrunning a bear. He doesn’t have to be faster than the bear, just faster than the other guy.
If he pulls ahead of Donald, that’s good enough. (Maybe getting close is good enough)
Don’t ever be afraid to tell the truth.
But you might want to guard your back when you do. :>)
You know, the RATs and the PUBs have been playing this game for years; pretending like they are opposition, but all the while being the same team. Maybe Ted and Donald are now playing the same game on them, and we just don't know about it. They might have already worked it out. Wishful thinking or possible explanation?
If Trump gets to 1237, he has earned it and he should be the nominee. Cruz has repeatedly said he would support him if he is the nominee, but if Trump doesn't reach the 1237 milestone, Trump and Cruz will have the opportunity to convince the delegates who they should vote for on subsequent votes based on the current primary/convention rules.
If anyone tries to change the rules under which the primary has played out, God help those traitors.
I too will vote for whomever the nominee is.
But it doesn't matter. You'll be gone as soon as the primaries are over.
sophisticated argument....
Trump loses at the open convention.
One can point out someone just joined without insulting them. And frankly I think both gay and straight people ought to feel welcome to join the discussion and vote for conservative principles. And not everybody who joins the day they make their first post an article is a troll.
“Selling out like that would irredeemable reduce him in my eyes...”
It would not be selling out, when it’s a virtual certainty that he can’t get to 1,237 himself.
If anything, it would be facing reality square on, and being honest with himself about what he can and can’t achieve with his candidacy.
Negotiating with Trump for his delegates would be the right thing to do for the country, if it means avoiding a nasty convention fight that would put the choice of our nominee into the hands of the usual establishment suspects, who are all but guaranteed to attempt a hijacking of the people’s choice.
If that is your idea of “humor”, you missed...badly.
put down the comic books.
the media authors are after ratings not reality.
The convention will be “open” NOT “brokered.
No new candidates will prevail.
I’m counting on the GOPe disaffection with Cruz to be an asset.
No, the machine controls the rules process. The only way that the convention can change the rules on the floor from what the insiders have put forth is if there is a minority report subscribed to by at least 25% of the Convention Rules Committee. So at least a quarter of the insider appointed Convention Rules Committee must break free to even give the delegates a chance to have a say in the rules.
In short - here are the folks that have a say on the Rules:
*RNC Standing Committee on Rules
*RNC
*Convention Rules Committee
*Convention - takes what they’ve been issued unless there is a minority report from the Convention Rules Committee, in which case they can take the majority or minority view.
Cruz has a debt to us...and he can only repay it by linking up with Donald Trump to save us from the GOPe and the DC Uni-Party!
“Yeah, but hassling newbs is one of lifes simple pleasures.”
Operative word is “simple”.
Well its not complicated.

They could easily get past this by simply making a joint announcement.
Trump could say that his lawyers looked at it once again, and that he is satisfied that Cruz is eligible.
Or...better yet...they could make a joint announcement in conjunction with this that the whole thing of them fighting each other was a rope-a-dope perpetrated on the GOPe and the MSM.
Most Americans would like the idea that they had snookered those two organizations.
Point is, these two men are smart and they could make it work.
