Cruz supporters: Did Cruz's comments change your mind on him?
vanity | March 12, 2016 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

I am a Trump supporter but I would like to know if Cruz's comments about Chicago changed the mind of any of his supporters. Is it A) no difference I still support Cruz B) I am rethinking my support for Cruz C) I am now going to support another candidate or not voting?

B) for me, and I may even be writing a vanity later on, my first. Letting this percolate in my head a while, and seeing what else happens the next few days. But it has certainly changed my feelings about my #1 guy, Cruz.

“He has not started a fire or attacked anyone racially, ever. He has said nothing abusive”

Ok, show me a racial attack. The fact is that no campaign is more racially diverse.

Cruz and Trump are both deeply ambitious humans.

Believe me, you dont get this far in life otherwise.

Should have nothing to do with our support of either of them.

Cruz said today: ‘When you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that’s facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord.’

Chance I will have to take. I have given enough chances to the DemocraticGOP.

“Trump has called ALL the candidates nasty names.

That face...”

Yeah...and as I woman I totally agree with him. Carley may be a great business woman, but is quite unfortunately looking.

“I think Paine was one of the original socialists”

Based upon what? I cannot think of anything more opposite. Can you explain that?

Cruz blew it. Instead of highlighting our 1st Amendment to Free Speech, he instead attacks Trump. Cruz you blew it big time.

You should of talked about the importance of the 1st Amendment and why we have the 2nd Amendment to support the 1st Amendment. So long Cruz.

Cruz is really a Bush… just with a different last name:

“Neil Bush, the son of President George H. W. Bush, who defrauded U.S. taxpayers out of $1.5 billion dollars in the savings and loan scam, and later peddled influence for the Chinese government, (who plied him with Chinese prostitutes) has formally endorsed Senator Ted Cruz for president. You can’t make this stuff up.

“This endorsement says much. Since the other, more politically involved Bush men have a distinct dislike for Mr. Cruz, I suppose Neil Bush is better than no Bush. Let’s look at the wonderful memories that Neil Bush has left us with. First there is is that little banking charade he steered us into back in 1985.

“Back in 1981, Neil Bush was director of Silverado Savings and Loan in Denver, Colorado. Neil was very generous, lending millions to pals Kenneth Good and William Walters. The $250 million in loans went into default, S.S. & L. went bankrupt and had to be seized by the Feds. Neil Bush walked away with a cool $100,000 personal loan which he never paid back. Documents released by the Office of Thrift Supervision detailed the conflict of interest charges against Neil. Federal regulators described him as ‘unqualified, and untrained’ to be a director of a financial institution.

“Cruz, and his wife, are deeply connected within Bush world:

“The Bush-Cruz connection is clear. Ted was George W.’s brain when he ran for president. A top policy adviser, Ted maneuvered for Solicitor General in Bush World but settled for a plum at the Federal Trade Commission. Ted’s a Bush man with deep ties to the political and financial establishment. Ted and wife Heidi brag about being the first “Bush marriage” – they met as Bush staffers. Cruz was an adviser on legal affairs while Heidi was an adviser on economic policy and eventually director for the Western Hemisphere on the National Security Council under Condoleezza Rice. Condi helped give us the phony war in Iraq. Heidi then went to the Bush U.S. Trade Representative as a top deputy to U.S. Trade Rep. Robert Zoellick, who wired Heidi’s membership in the Council on Foreign Relations and job at Goldman Sachs. The bailed-out bank then loaned Cruz $1 million secretly to finance his Senate race. Crux would also borrow an undisclosed $1 million loan from Citicorp.

“That means Cruz, an Ivy League champion debater, has used his political skills to cover up just how much of a political insider he is. While claiming to be a rebel tea-party candidate, he associates with New York hedge funds and energy companies, while supporting TPP/Obamatrade to send American jobs overseas.

“Perhaps now we know why the establishment would much rather support Cruz instead of conservative businessman Donald J. Trump, who is self-funding his campaign?”

“You can have your Code Pink/Michael Moore-allied candidate. I’ll stick with the actual conservative Republican in the race.”

You should be a comedian, or a Canadian.

One side observation. Why did they let Trump be completely surrounded by the crowd?

He should have had his back to the plane.

I completely agree. It’s pretty hard to read his writings without coming to that conclusion. I have no idea why people quote him so much.

He deserves some credit for helping to bring awareness and focus to the problems of the colonies, but I think John Adams was right when he said that upon second consideration of Common Sense, he thought Paine as more of a tearer-down than one who could build.

And that is how I see Trump. He raised concerns that were being ignored, and he challenged political correctness in doing so. But I haven’t seen much from him in terms of concrete ideas, and what he does mention seems very authoritarian. Most of his outspoken followers seem to me to just want to burn it all down.

You forgot: "If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato." At the beginning of your quote.

And that context is important to me. The media picked the quote and you've reposted it without the first sentence. To me, for the safety of property and the safety of attendees, it is best to knock the crap out of somebody who would cause immediate danger to others. Sorry if that's not PC.

"If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of the, would you? Seriously. OK, just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise.”

I don't take issue in any respect with your #28, but have a couple of concerns.

I would have voted for him if he won the nomination...

This first option is a tough call from the standpoint of principles, but it is a street fight that may quickly go beyond bare knuckles. No matter what a tool he has proven himself to be - skilled attorney who would have those of us who can read believe he is constitutionally eligible together with his recent self-serving assignment of blame to Trump - it seems prudent to hold one's nose and vote for any R candidate in order to buy time to avoid what would certainly be a greater evil.

The tree of liberty will get watered sooner with her in the WH.

A difficulty with this option is that the "watering" element would almost certainly involve multiple-front warfare, not just a second front. We have poised both at and within our borders many different enemies who are bent on transforming our nation. While you and I and others may be dedicated competent warriors who have been there and done that, I don't like our odds when "watering" in what would certainly be a broken, chaotic, and logistically challenging environment.

“What does he represent other than tearing down the frontrunner?”

Even worse than tearing down the frontrunner, he’s thwarting the will of the American voters. This democracy/republic cannot survive if We The People are excluded from choosing our leaders.

Yeah, Trump’s made some brash comments in response to disruptions from leftist protesters. But they were engaging in this kind of behavior since well before Trump was around, as you say. BLM disrupting restaurants and malls, campus activists shouting down conservative speakers, etc. What’s happening now was more or less inevitable — the result of Trump’s bold positions plus the fact that for the left nothing is off limits. The left permits to itself all means to accomplish its righteous ends, including disruption amd violence. Cruz is putting the emphasis in the wrong place by 1) blaming Trump and 2) saying almost nothing about the left. It’s galling.
