Nimrod Rises
Rantz and Reckonings ^ | 03/11/2016 | RAS

Once upon a time there lived a man. Not just any ordinary man, this was a very great man, in his mind the greatest, ever; and he would let you and everybody else know it too. He was an alpha male named Nimrod and he was a mighty hunter in defiance of God. The time was long ago, before the people of the earth were divided into different peoples and nations; and all the people of the earth were one. The people, however, had become disillusioned and insecure in their existence; and they were afraid of things they feared would befall them in the future. And there were also wild beast at the time entering into the land killing and devouring many of them and threatening their existence. Therefore, it was with great enthusiasm that they readily embraced this great man who was a mighty hunter to rule over them. For he promised to unify them and provide them a safe haven and security.

Now Nimrod was well aware of the insecurities and fears of the people; and because he was a great one, in his mind greater than anyone else, he proposed they build a wall, a yuge wall. And because he was greater than everybody else and he was an alpha male, he would rule over them. For alphas know how to build stuff, and how to make it yuger and better than everybody else's.

Okay, on second thought, it was not a wall, because all the people of the earth were one people, and there were no illegal yet to keep out. It was a tower he proposed to build, a yuge tower. No, not Trump Towers in New York, it was the tower at Babel. And Nimrod, who also knew the art of the deal better than anyone else, he was going to build this tower and make foreigners pay for it. But since all the people of the earth were one, that part did not work out.

“. . . Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grand-son of Ham, the son of Noah: a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it was through his means that they were happy; but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny; seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his own power. He also said, “He would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again: for that he would build a Tower too high for the waters to be able to reach . . . ”– Flavius Josephus

Now, in Hebrew the name Nimrod means, "rebel" or "let us rebel". This name was given to Nimrod by his contemporaries; for Nimrod ever had in his yuge mouth such words as to stir up his band to rebellion. Nimrod's following was built upon rebellion and chieftainship based upon his own personal valor. He maintained his standing in the eyes of all the people by a show of aggression and non-repentance. Indeed, for even against God Nimrod exalted himself and was a competitor for the hearts and souls of all the people to the end that he should rule over them. For he ascribed greatness to himself, an absolute self reliance; he did not need God for anything. He could do it all. He did not even need to ask God for forgiveness, ever. And he convinced the people that it was by their power and the power of man, his power in particular, they could be made great again. Except that they were not so great to begin with because his kingdom was the first world government, so he had to strike the “again” part.

Nimrod was an ungodly man, but that did not matter to many Christians who trusted him because he promised to take care of them and protect them so that they would not have anything to worry about -- except for that didn't really happen at that particular time, because there were not any Christians yet. That happened at a much later date in a different place and time with different characters. But had there been Christians at that time, or any other people whose support Nimrod absolutely had to have to gain power, he would have told them that he would protect them, or whatever he needed to tell them in order to get their support. And Nimrod did indeed begin to build a Tower, and to unite the kingdom, and then to bring everything and everybody under his own control. And the kingdom gradually fell into tyranny. And the tower was never finished. And the people became ever oppressed and were in great distress. Neither did their lives improve at all as promised but rather, only grew worse. And there were divisions among them and they became angry and wailed and cried aloud out of misery for all of those things which had befallen them.

Then God looked down and beheld the the tower and the kingdom built by Nimrod and the people who followed him; and His anger was kindled; for the world was very wicked and Godless. The society Nimrod and the people built was not built upon a foundation of righteousness or a belief in God, but upon the belief that mighty men make kingdoms great and not God. And God scattered the people and the kingdom came to naught. Then that which the people had feared came upon them; for they were separated from their possessions and their lands and were driven out where they became a prey and were hunted by the wild beasts. For the people had forsaken the ways of the God of their fathers; and they sought to build a tower to the heavens in rebellion against Him, closing their eyes and disregarding the immorality and godlessness of their chosen ruler in favor of the greatness, strength, and power which he projected. And even unto this day their children follow strong men who promise them greatness and to build yuge things, better than everybody else's.

Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin condemns any people.

All nations that forget God shall be turned into hell.

Saul was evil and became a punishment to the people for seeking a king. David was righteous BEFORE God exalted him.

You forgot Il Duce (Mussolini). I’m sure the anti-Christ is soon to follow.

I agree.

Which is why I am even considering Trump. None of the other choices meet the Evangelical test for me. Therefore, Trump is equal to them.

Probably Tedius Cruzius, a man ahead of his time (just a guess).

"When I think of Nimrod I think of Obama"

Same spirit, same ambitions, different visions of what the final product looks like. When I think Obama, I think Pharaoh.

They both were motivated by the consolidation of power over all the people.

Yes. It is an obsessive driving force of ambition in some men that is ever present in every single generation since the first consolidation of power. When the ambition is finally realized in it’s fullness and becomes universal, it will also be how everything ends.

The classical Greek knowledge of what makes a tyrant is interestingly ignored.

A tyrant thinks that he (or she), once they have got all the power, that they are somehow free to act as they desire and they they will have that "freedom" forever.

However, they are trapped and in the end cannot escape their own entrapment.

They even think that they will have everlasting glory.

Tis an entanglement of the mind and soul in which the end goal is always perdition.

Completely and totally ridiculous... Nimrod tried to build a tower for ‘salvation’, leaving out God... It is Nimrods that are attempting to build a ‘new world order’.

Some people are born to deceive and some people are born to be deceived.

When Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions. Trump responded, "I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so, he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

"Nimrod tried to build a tower for salvation, leaving God out...

Trump is coming in his own name, offering to build America a tower of salvation -- maybe in this case a wall -- by his might and his power, and not relying on God or bringing him into the picture.

Same thing.

A more apt comparison would be Nehemiah, who saw to the completion/restoration of the wall around Jerusalem to keep out invaders. I am no Trump fan, but I do support a physical barrier along our nation’s borders. Using Nimrod as an allegory for Trump is a stretch, regardless Trump’s towers.

Nehemiah sought God every day. Trump said he doesn't get God involved.

"Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain." - Psalm 127:1

That goes for walls too.

Dear the devil knows the Scripture better than any human... And when the devil tempted Christ he ‘twisted’ the Scripture ever so slightly. Trump is NOT offering ‘salvation’ in the spiritual sense, which is the point behind the tower building Nimrod.

You lead by example and confess your sins. I do not blame Trump one bit for answering Luntz’s gotcha question. In Christ, each and every individual has direct access to the Creator and it is nobody business about confession of sins.

God gave us brains, and HE expects us to use spiritual discernment, not set ourselves up as judges, and mind readers. As I have been told by so many of the ‘church ladies’, Trump has been open about his sins... Christ said you break one of the commandments you break them all... Perhaps you need a refresher in the Ten Commandments.... Lying ranks right up there with adultery as well as coveting...

NOT in any way comparing Trump to Solomon, but God used Solomon, who had a multitude of women to write Song of Solomon and the book of Ecclesiastics . And God used Balaam’s ass Numbers 22 to get the attention of the preacher for hire.

Are you comparing Trump to Balaam’s ass? Balaam was slain because he was wicked. And Solomon’s heart was turned away by his many wives; he served other gods and he cursed after he had been blessed.
