I worry about you because I see disillusion in your future. You have a man who dissembles, lies about his actions, uses religion as a tool and you think he is showing the face of God.
Listen to any awards ceremony and you get to hear how words can be used to cloak anyone in a mantle of superiority, yadad yada. When the dust settles what has been accomplished? Ted has a lot of hat but not many cattle. He has the beginning of a good career in the Senate but he has let ambition use him.
The only reason its being discussed is its one of the few accomplishments Cruz supporters can bring to the table.
Where did you find this info? What basis do you have for this assertion? Oh wait you are just making up the facts like Cruz does.
Plenty of articles about it, choose you own source of liking.
This was the first match on google
Is Donald Trump self-funding his campaign? Sort of
By Lauren Carroll on Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
...”Trumps campaign brought in about $19.4 million by the end of 2015. Trump contributed nearly $13 million of that himself. Most of the remainder comes from individual contributions, which federal law caps at $2,700 per candidate per election.”...
“There is, though, a ‘donate’ button on Trumps website.”
and
...”But in the last quarter, Trump gave his campaign a $10.8 million loan, turning that balance around.”
“That brings us to the second caveat: The vast majority of Trumps contributions to his own campaign about $12.6 million are loans rather than donations. This means he could expect to eventually recoup these funds.”
“Further, of the approximately $12 million Trumps campaign spent in 2015, about $2.7 million went toward reimbursing Trump-affiliated companies for services provided to the campaign, such as traveling in his own plane and helicopter, according to a New York Times analysis.”
Ted is not Ronald Reagan. RR was a great communicator that connected with millions. Ted comes across as pious condescending lawyer with a terrible accent. which is why I think Hillary will murder the guy.
“...He is owned by his donors...”
I keep reading that about all candidates, to include trump being owned by the wall-street banks that he owes *HUNDREDS* of millions to.
But no one ever offers any evidence to back up that extraordinary claim. Without it, it just appears like a “low-info” voter knee-jerking or parroting something they heard from another mouth-frothing “low-info” voter.
He is a GovCo lawyer who has worked for/in the GOPe wing of GovCo all his adult life, yet he has convinced a significant number of people that, not only is he an outsider, he is president material. Wow!
Rush said Cruz studied and knew how to lock up the evangelical Christian vote, too, so he brings a lot of new people to the party who were becoming increasingly unreachable by the GOPe.
So, there you go. A GovCo lawyer with 40-some years of life experience and not much if any work experience outside of the GOPe wing of GovCo.
Oh boy! What a rare catch!!
If he's not elected president, I'm sure he could run any business, or anything else for that matter. He's simply amazing.
If you have watched the debates, they are filled with the donors. Trump noted that Johnson-Johnson was Jeb's main donor. Trump knows personally these donors. At one debate an insurance donor was waving and smirking at Trump from the audience. These mavens of business do not donate millions of dollars via packs without the expectation of something in return. Do your own research to find out who each candidate owes. Cruz is owned lock stock and barrel.
They are loans from himself to his campaign. He has said many times that he will not return small donations from individuals and that he is honored by them. Both these facts do not add up to Trump being beholding to big donors.
Is that how we’re evaluating Presidential candidates now?
Ted Cruz is a good candidate.
FReepers need to stop attacking a good conservative candidate. Jim Robinson has requested that we “drop the vitriol against each other and against our leading candidates as of now” ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3405593/posts ).
Let’s follow his reasonable request.
lol true. We have yet to see what Obama's last trick will be also.
Of course everyone is their own person. I didn't say Cruz was Reagan, I said he was a Reagan conservative. I think Cruz would actually be better than Reagan in the budget. Reagan let the Dems spend money. On other things Reagan would be better than Cruz.
Trump has been int eh media eye for many, many years - I dont understand your point of saying he would suck up to the media. T Hey follow him around like sick puppy dogs - they suck up to him even though they dont really like him. Wow, Im amazed at some of the things people say.
Trump is a populist, he will want to be liked, that means seeing where the media goes. Right now he wants to be liked by the conservative base, soon he will want to be liked by the numbskulls who get their politics from late night shows.
I hope I'm wrong.
I *have* done my research and I gave you a specific example of a donor that Cruz stands against, both by sponsoring legislation against the donor's special interests and by consistently arguing policy and taking political positions against the donor's special interests. If he is controlled by donors -- "owned lock stock and barrel" you claimed -- I've just proven you wrong and you have offered jack-squat in defense of your ludicrous claim.
But I'm willing to watch you flail a bit more -- what research have *you* done? How about you give me an example of this quid-pro-quo you mentioned. Show me where Cruz changed a position for a donor that owns him, "lock stock and barrel". Cruz has been darned consistent so that may be too tough. If not Cruz, then try Rubio, Kasich, Bush? Or perhaps instead of your lack of any indication Cruz (or anyone else) is "owned lock stock and barrel" by donors, maybe just show where they have altered positions? And when it comes to "bending with the political winds", there is one candidate that *truly* stands out...
Huh? Reagan conservatives are overcome by the rapture fraud? News to me. I'm a Reagan conservative and there will be no rapture. Jesus says He will be very happy when he returns that we already have the fire of truth lit. We need a true conservative to get that going.
There's a lot of conspiracies that have been carried out over time, but I just can't get into the "Bushes want to rule the world" stuff. lol Sorry, too much tinfoil even for me. lol
You've flipped out.
Well, I hope tariffs aren't in our future, but on the conservative stuff we'll see.
These things don’t save American, dealing with the trade and immigration issues do. He is on the wrong side of trade.
Cruz would be great in the judicial system.
Trump has said the issues are currency manipulation and those countries whose goods we accept having to accept our goods on the same terms. "free trade" was always supposed to have "fair trade" safeguards. Another issue was supposed to be that workers in all countries were supposed to have life sustaining wages and safe non-exploitive working conditions.
