I really don’t see how term limits is a presidential issue - term limits would have to come from Congress approving an amendment and having that amendment ratified by the states.

So if Trump "says" that he will support term limits, this author will support Trump whole-heartedly?
How does he know that Trump will really mean what he says?

If he were to push term limits, his election would be sealed.

If Trump adds term limits to his signature issue of immigration then Im instantly a Trumpista... If Trump adds an issue that he has zero control over, the writer vows to become a Trumpista? Well gosh, that's logical.

Can’t push for term limits now, without losing congressional support.

Really would be curious if this was proposed and sent to the states for ratification. Frankly, I think the ‘people’ would be on board for limits. I’ve been screaming for term limits for 25 years in addition to the Prez being neutered politically once elected. I am so freaking tired of seeing the Prez going on an official trip to California to award little Johnny his Patrol of the Year award but also attending 3 fund raisers for whichever party. When elected, he president of all, not just one political party.

RE:”

Furthermore congress is NOT going to term-limit themselves, regardless of what Trump says about it.

Regarding term limits, if patriots would work with state lawmakers to peacefully force the corrupt feds back into their constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited power cage, then wed probably have problems finding people who wanted to serve as lawmakers and presidents.
After all, politicians get themselves elected to federal office to legally steal peoples money though unconstitutonal federal taxes.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Ater all, stealing money through unconstitutional federal taxes is easier than robbing banks for a living.
To: Sean_Anthony
Term limits has already been ruled on by the SCOTUS...
Unconstitutional...
Not going to happen....
That's what elections are for...

Term limits are stupid.
You need experienced legislators to make deals and marshall objectives to completion.
In regards to Trump, .....what limit?
He can only live at 1600 Pennsylvania twice....

English shall be the official language of the United States and to be taught in every school and territory of the United States. All other languages are secondary. Only English shall be mandatory in schools.
To be a citizen...and vote, you must know English...so why are ballots in different languages???
To: Sean_Anthony
Once upon a time, I believed in term limits.
Now I believe in giving our elected representatives in all levels of government nothing, or at most a cot, an airline pass, a bus pass and 3 squares.
Term limits only empower the bureaucrats who will become the mainstay as the seat changes hands over and over again.
Just stop making it possible to make a career out of being a politician and it will self correct.

Presidents say they will push for a balanced budget amendment as part of their campaign promises so why not a term limits amendment?
To: Sean_Anthony
And how, exactly, would a President accomplish term limits on Congress? Executive Order?

That was exactly what I was thinking. How does the president control term limits?
The best a president could do is promise to sign a bill that had term limits.
The president is not the king.
