Of course, a chart by Sen. Sessions was posted that stated 91% of migrants collect food stamps.

That’s because the number of people on food stamps is a real number, and the unemployment figure is manipulated rubbish.

They will get off food-stamps when we bring the jobs back and the labor market looks safe to return to. They will return when the rewards in the labor market are higher than the subsistence level of food-stamps and the market looks stable enough that they don’t think they will get trapped.

By trapped, I mean that they are afraid if they take a job and lose their food-stamps and then get fired or laid off, they will be worse off than if they had just stayed on food stamps.

Some may need intervention to get off. But that’s a wasted effort until there are sufficient jobs.

2 Thess 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”

This isn’t about being greedy or stingy with tax dollars. It’s about the harm that dependence on involuntary charity does to the recipient. It is immoral to take self-respect from people and turn them into welfare bums, government pets who are taken care of in return for their captive votes in favor of the only life they know - the life of a parasite.

I am all for helping the poor,
but why there are no restrictions on what they can buy with EBT cards?
Junk food, beer, wine, donuts, chocolates, lobsters, etc
can be bought with EBT cards.
The food companies are the biggest lobbyists for EBT.
Because they can sell more of the un-healthy stuff,
which has bigger profit margins.

The unemployment number is at best a deception (more than a lie). It’s more like a gubermint snake oil con job for suckers that would believe it

Many people work under the table, or not at all, to stay under poverty levels and receive “benefits.” Only people seeking jobs in which you are required to pay taxes are recorded in the governments unemployment number.

At least during Obama&'s presidency there has been a "yah but" every time the unemployment rate gets announced, mainly because of able people dropping out of the workforce. In that regard commentators point to U-6, which was 9.9% this last time while the U-3 generally reported was 4.9%. Other folks say this government badly understates unemployment and it really is something above 20%.

I have found sources making that statement before, but was never able to follow how they computed that rate. Shadow Government Statistics at http://www.shadowstats.com/ is one source I checked. I do not know whether I just was not looking carefully enough or whether these folks do not tell the method of computation. Well, DoughtOne who posts to Free Republic came up with a method I could understand. I even duplicated it in an Excel spreadsheet.

you can work and still get food stamps.
Gross Monthly can = 130% of poverty rate and net can = 100% of poverty rate.

The dollar limit goes up for more people in the family

The number of people on food stamps is a real number. The unemployment number on the other hand was pulled out of someone’s ass.
