The morning after Trump gives his acceptance speech ... the vetting will begin.
Facebook ^ | Feb. 16, 2016 | Steve Deace

Posted on 02/16/2016 10:00:15 PM PST by Theo

Running into lots of conservatives concerned media giving Trump a pass and not vetting him, just reporting everything he says and acting as his press agent.

There's a reason for this: Trump as the nominee accomplishes their two main objectives.

  1. Ratings
  2. The destruction of the Reagan Coalition

But fear not, my young padawans, I bring you glad tidings of great joy this morning. Because if a real vetting of Trump-World madness is what you want, rest assured starting the morning after he gives his rambling, incoherent acceptance speech at the convention the vetting will begin.

Some things you may learn later this year:

And don't worry, when they start really vetting Trump, they won't offer him all the free media he's currently getting to defend himself. The phone-in interviews to those Sunday shows no one else gets will suddenly stop, too.

Oh, yes, padawans, once he's the nominee the media vetting of Trump will be very real and very spectacular. Because with the Left poised to nominate the most disliked Marxist in America, it's all about driving down our base turnout.

But hey, it's only the future of the country at stake, so I understand why we don't want to pass up a chance at the greatest reality show ever told.

Trump 2016! Making cults great again.

Hillary and DNC opposition research teams have assembled thick, fully-documented briefing books of material, intending that they be ready for delivery to the news media and political ad teams as soon as Trump has secured the nomination.

Is it just me, or does everyone see a recent ‘piling on’ of Donald Trump?
If so, let them come, like this fat slob from NowhereVille, America.
Fuck him. All illegals out!

Sorry Theo, but, your attempt to point out the problems with Trump will just bring out his cult following to protect their savior by any means. Our Republic is lost now that electing a POTUS has become a reality show.

“Yeah Trump gets a pass.just today The President, every candidate on both sides, talk radio, and Fox News/CNN spent all day blasting him.”

It isn’t that he gets a pass. It is that, as one columnist put it, “Trump owns the downside”

If someone were to print an article about Mr. Trump paying for an abortion for a hooker in 1998 he’d simply say “That was then, I’ve changed and I am not running as that type of conservative anyway.”

You can’t embarrass Donald Trump because he either does not think what he did was wrong (Imminent Domain) or blows it off as irrelevant to the issues he is running on today and refuses to talk about it. The Demodogs can blame Bill Clinton for starting this. Trump would avoid any allegation of moral impropriety by simply saying I am not running on that issue.

The article shows that the author is still thinking of when Republicans could be forced to resign because they tapped their foot in a public toilet and somebody accused them of being homosexual.

This is a different type of campaign than the past. Whether it ends good or ill it is at least fun to watch. Trump is throwing the demodog’s tactics back at them

The sour-grapes, you’ll-be-sorry postings have already begun and the SC primary hasn’t even happened yet. Interesting.

Wow. An article whose vapidity is exceeded only by its childishness. This is like peeking into the mind of a 9-year old child riding the short bus to school, quite happy in his perceptions of his own brilliance, completely unaware that he (and people who think like him) are just dolts.

But one point in this ridiculous "article" that can't go unanswered: "The destruction of the Reagan Coalition". Trump is reviving the Reagan Coalition. It is the GOPe who destroyed (or, at least, keeps trying to destroy) the Reagan coalition -- the Bush-Dole-Bush-McCain-Romney parade of incompetence, the completely out-of-touch conservative media, the brain-dead useless idiots who give that media any credence.

Trump is the latest manifestation of the true Reagan coalition -- the ones who loved Reagan, the ones who could not stand Bush Sr. (even to the extent of supporting the crazy uncle living in the attic), the ones who voted in massive numbers in 94, 02, 10, and 14, the ones who considered themselves part of the Tea Party (at least, until it became co-opted by self-serving fake conservatives and single issue types). Through Trump, the Reagan coalition once again emerges, and, this time, looks like it may have finally found a candidate who shares Reagan's three most important characteristics, at least in terms of being able to unite such a diverse cross-section of voters: 1) Trump is not from within the political world, and voters know it -- Reagan was an actor, and Trump a real estate tycoon, but both were from outside the world of politics and law; 2) Trump, like Reagan, loves this country deeply, and it shows; and 3) Trump, like Reagan, are seen as genuinely intelligent people even though both, in different ways, weren't seen by many as academic-smart -- Reagan instilled confidence because of his deep wisdom, and Trump because of his pattern of success.

No. Trump will not destroy the Reagan coalition, but he is the best chance of bringing it back into political dominance. Only a deluded self-proclaimed conservative would oppose that. Or one of the Cruz cultists who have infested the conservative world like a pack of rabid chihuahuas (no insult meant to Cruz, who is a genuinely admirable, courageous, and brilliant politician and legal mind -- but he does attract the crazies).

I gave him the courtesy of reading all the way to the end, to see if he had a point...but not really...was one of those “if your throw enough paint on the wall something is gonna stick”..kinda articles

If author has info, he is free to publish it. Otherwise, just wild speculation. Kinda "he is more successful than I am, so he must be bad" type of article. Sour grapes flavor of article.

He is just simply speaking in Evelyn Wood. http://www.ewrd.com/ewrd/index.asp

So much to say, so little time. The interesting thing is he always comes back to the original topic when he goes off on tangents.

Another Trump FReeper who considers a pejorative adjective directed at another conservative FReeper to be a legitimate form of logical argument.

But why? Theo didn't insult you. What did this gain you? Did you "deprogram" Theo and convert him into a Trump acolyte? Or, did going all Alinsky on Theo convince one hundred other FReepers to join you on the Trump bandwagon? I highly doubt it.

You can be better than this, really. I know the average FReeper is better than this. FReegards.

"That fat, stupid slob Steve Deace thinks all the hate articles coming out everyday by leftist and “conservative” media isn’t “vetting.” They’re just being soft on Trump!" - Greetings_Puny_Humans

Hmmmm, just curious here. I looked up Steve Deace and he IS is actually a little overweight, so I'll give you points there. He doesn't look like a "slob". Really, he looks like a pretty well dressed guy. As far as stupid is concerned, he seems to be pretty eloquent and well spoken. And, even if he were "stupid", even a "stupid" person might come up with a perl of wisdom every now and again that's worth reading.

In fact, his tag line sounds pretty conservative to me: "Fear God. Tell the Truth. Make Money. Rules For Patriots: How Conservatives Can Win Again." In fact, I guess I need to pay more attention to the "Make Money" thingy, myself.

All that said, can you please explain what his weight, grooming, or IQ has to do with the rest of your logical argument, or how it proves that the media is NOT being "soft on Trump"? It certainly does not de-legitimize anything that Deace wrote or Theo reposted.

Ya know, words mean things, and the way we construct our arguments tells folks a lot about ourselves. I'm a conservative by nature and by choice, so I fight illogical arguments. I particularly despise those that avail themselves of Alinsky's pernicious "Rules for Radicals" numbers 5 and 13. It just flicks a "switch" for me when I see a poster with many such pejorative posts in their history.

You can do better. Support him all you want, but Trump isn't worth the compromise of your conservative principles. FReegards.

How pathetic - make up potential stuff that would have been used by the Republicans in the race and acting as if the sky will suddenly become unstable if Trump wins - makes zero sense in your scenario - take some more drugs and have a do-over.

I know Deace. He is kind of an overweight slob.

He has some slight impairment, sort of like very mild Tourette’s. It makes him seem weirder than he actually is.

Deace also has a monster ego, which makes him hard to like for a lot of people.

“Some things you may learn later this year:

The names of all his conquests, especially if he paid for any to have abortions.
The names of all the illegal aliens working for him, who are supposedly afraid to come out of the shadows.
The names of every stripper he hired whose story turned out Lifetime Movie sad.
The names of every poor schlepp he wrongfully fired and/or fleeced in court.
The alleged “questionable terrorist ties” of all his Muslim-world business interests.
The legions of mysogynistic comments he’s ever made, and on loop.
Just how liberal he really is on social issues.
Every snide comment he’s made about Christians and conservatives in private to his elitist buddies.”

So you’re saying that Trump will be treated LIKE EVERY OTHER REPUBLICAN by the media if he wins the nomination?

Ok, we all expect that. Anything new?

Wrong- the vetting will begin the morning after he wins the nomination. Or any other GOP candidate for that matter.
