Hillary Clinton had endorsed forcing women to register for a draft. Now the issue is taking on new urgency. Despite the left's anti-draft posturing, it has fond memories of its protests during the Vietnam War and it is the biggest supporter of bringing back the draft. Proposals to move to a draft army invariably come from Democrats in Congress and left-wing pundits who believe that a draft will create a higher barrier to any future conflict. Forcing women to register raises the barrier even higher. And anything that makes it harder for the military to function properly is also part of that agenda.
But the debate over the role of women in the military is also a subset of the bigger debate about the role of our military. The military no longer exists to win wars or even to fight them. Nobody thinks that Obama will fight China if it tries to take Taiwan or even Japan. If North Korea attacks, our people will have no air support while Kerry pleads with Kim Jong Un to allow them to be evacuated. Obama refused to provide military equipment to Ukraine. If Russian troops march into Poland, Putin knows quite well that NATO or no NATO, we won't be there. A global warming treaty, no matter how invalid and unenforceable, will be zealously followed by the White House to the letter. But security agreements and defense pacts are utterly worthless...

Because a female draft, even one the Left specifically asks for, gives the Left yet another excuse to protest the use, and even the existence, of the US Military, and yet another rallying cry against using said military against the nominal foes of the USA, which the left would rather co-opt into a weapon against the US culture and national identity.

The baby boomer leftists pine for the days of the “anti-war movement” (which was really and anti-draft movement). They want a draft so going to war will be too unpopular to contemplate.
They also love the idea that people’s lives are subservient to the state. That’s why they want to be able to draft people into non-military service as well.
Hope those FReepers who claim it’s only fair to show them what’s what read this and kick-start their brains.....

I am not a leftist but I don’t see how we avoid girls registering for the draft. And if we face the Chinese hordes, I want one male and one little girl drafted after each male. “There is no difference”. We are apparently just caving in again on allowing women in combat which I assure you is suicidal. Do you know what is done in combat? Even though the Equal Right Amendment was defeated we just destroy our culture and centuries of proper standards and the republicrats just avert their gaze when the Mr. Roger element in the military installs “women in combat “ like it’s nothing. Ok if that is the deal and women are equal to men then ,by gosh, they need to get these little 18 year old , mall monkeys right on down to the post office to register for the draft. They are equal, right?
They hate the (American) military - but see no problem in a radical Muslim military or communist military.
They hate the conservative/patriotic women who might sign up and (trt to) serve effectively in an expanded American military.
They have hated the draft since the 60’s - though most democrat socialists either used a college deferment (Clinton and others) or were not ever elligible for the draft tself. It serves as an excuse for their hatred and racism however, since they claim that poor blacks were drafted ahead of rich white males.
They hate American military exceptionalism, therefore today everybody must be drafted (so nobody will be called up since conservatives typically do not want women to have to fight) so if fighting does start, it will be harder to fight. (Kind of a perverse logic there, but anything fighting the effectiveness of the draft helps their effort. See nbr 1 above.)
Women are being taken into the military as one more blow against American moral structure exhibited over the years.

There is the reason to dismantle the boy's military, controlling men is what it is about....5000 female generals, 5000 female Majors, 10000 female Corporals....

It is merely registering in the system that may select them.
There is no draft. Probably won’t be either.
And if they were drafted, Lord knows modt would probbly be shunted into areas that weren’t combat because they would not be combat capable.
Women in Israel seem to have no problem with it, and do two years of various service. Are our women so much less they can’t even register for the possibility of being picked?

Women are a majority in college now.
Women make as much money as men do. Some studies say they make more.
Women win every divorce and almost always get child custody.
Women have countless private and government support organizations that cater to them.
Women have been screaming for equality for decades. They've won it and much much more.
Women are now in the Combat Arms in the military (Infantry, Armor, Special Forces)
Women absolutely SHOULD be eligible for the draft.
And get high and tight haircuts.
