If I had a time machine, one of the first things I think I'd do would be to pop back to Free Republic, circa 2006, and post something like this:
Hi, everybody, this is Eric Pode, FR timetraveler from the year 2016, talkin' at ya!
Just wanted to let ya know that ten years hence, thousands of Freepers are gonna support a Presidential candidate who: thinks President Bush lied about WMD to get us into war, thinks 9-11 was President Bush's fault since it "happened on his watch", and thinks President Bush should be impeached!!
I wonder what the reaction would be.
Would I get the zot straightaway as a Dem plant or DailyKos troll?
Or would everyone just back away smiling, as befits a harmless lunatic?
IIRC, by 2006, FReepers were already beginning to sour on George “Islam Means Peace” Bush.
Let’s see.. How about also saying that the house and senate will be controlled by Republicans and could barely manage majorities for voting away mandatory healthcare, pretty much only after being assured by a first time senator come president that he’d veto it.
Where the majority of those running for president support open borders, including those who handed out teddy bears to those just crossing the border to welcome them.
I’m going to guess that under those types of circumstances that just maybe it might require thinking outside the box. Just my opinion, your milage may vary.
I wouldn’t bother with Free Republic.
I’d travel back to little teen-aged humblegunner and
lay down the law about a few things, kick his arrogant little butt and
then reiterate those things in which he might show improvement and those
which he should avoid.
Then I might even kick his ass again, just because he was a prick.
Because he didn't fight the war to victory.
NOT because the war was wrong.
By the time he nominated Harriet Myers.
look up “Bush jokes about WMDs”
that was really classy
That way we'd be spared this detestable vanity.
That was where he finally lost me.
I don’t blame him for 9/11. That was on Clinton and the Intelligence services.
I though Iraq was a mistake, not because of the WMD issue, but because it’s a freakin’ tar-baby. And that was proven true.
I was never a big fan of Bush. Even during the debates I remember him being given softball questions and he just whiffed away.
He had my respect, but not my loyalty. Obama has neither.

Back then I was supporting the Iraq war 100%. However knowing what I know today we should have left Saddam in power. Who knew that Barrack Obama would come along and make a mess of the whole area.

Instead of Iran.
I even predicted the outcome so many of us now lament. Hell, even that dumbass Joe Biden predicted it.
Why didn't you?
It’s not to late.
You could alter it in another timeline, but I’m afraid we’re stuck with it here.
You make a great point. About Donald Trump of course. Yet it's only the tip of the iceberg.
Here's Trump giving his support to the traitor-in-chief on his worldwide apology tour...
TRUMP [on the Larry King Show (April 15, 2009), referring to the then newly elected communist president (Obama)]: "Well, I really like him. I think that he's working very hard. He's trying to rebuild our reputation throughout the world. I mean, we really have lost a lot of reputation in the world. The previous administration [GW Bush] was a total disaster, a total catastrophe."

Damn.
We also found out that Arabs cannot handle Democracy. They need a strongman to keep them in line.
