Coming hot off his win in New Hampshire -and with a significant amount of his time devoted to South Carolina- itâs little surprise that Trump is 16-17 points ahead. It appears that the only demographics that Trump isnât currently winning are 18-29 year-old voters and self-described âvery liberalâ voters, who prefer Rubio and Kasich, respectively. Evangelists prefer Trump to Cruz by a margin of 10 points â a significant change from Iowa, where Cruz led with evangelical voters by four points.
When respondents were asked of their second choice for the nomination, Rubio and Cruz command the first and second spots (within 2 points), with others trailing closely.
The poll was conducted for the Augusta Chronicle, Morris News Service, and Fox 5 Atlanta.

Thanks.

That is still better than anyone else.
I am a Trump supporter, though I prefer Cruz. I must say that Trump is coming dangerously close to alienating me with these immature attacks.

But Ted’s outright lies don’t bother you?
So I guess that’s a yes... citing a poll or numbers that don’t align with desires for your chosen candidate amounts to bearing false witness...
What I find sad is people who are so desperate to find a political savior in a candidate that they ignore evidence of character flaws... just to stick it to the other side.
As a personal aside I find myself without a dog in this fight. My state has a very late primary so I don’t really have a voice. I don’t have a favorite candidate, I am still deciding who I would and would not hold my nose for in a general election. All candidates have positions and things in their pasts that I’m not crazy about.
I find the rabid devotion to either Cruz or Trump on this site disturbing and the name calling that commences the equivalent of kindergarten squabbling. Followers of both candidates seem to have forgotten the greatest commandment of all.
There was no cheating. CNN started the “rumor” about Carson dropping out...and it’s hardly vicious. As Brit Hume said after the New Hampshire results, it turns out Carson pretty much did drop out after Iowa and stopped campaigning. You can say you’re “in” but if you don’t act like it, it doesn’t mean much. Carson’s candidacy is a joke. A vote for Carson is a wasted vote.
But then, Cruz cheated.
Go Donald!
“All your Carson belong to Us”
Go Trump
“Evangelists prefer Trump to Cruz by a margin of 10 points”
This is the important part.
Yeah, that's his ceiling. Except that he's at 44 today. So political geniuses like you will now claim THAT'S his ceiling. Last month the same people were saying Trump can't get over 25%.
You'll be spouting this same crap after the Trump Inaugural.
lol! Your math is Common to the Core: Trump has 36% in this poll, well above 1/3rd.
Unfortunately true. You've got a plurality of Trump supporters, but a lot of folks who won't vote for him if he's the nominee. Then you've got a lot of Trump supporters who won't vote for anyone but him, or, in some cases, Cruz.
The party is going to be split no matter what, and I don't think a split party has much of a prayer in the general election.
Trump’s lying about Cruz right now. See the link. Trump has also engaged in constant insinuations and smears “hinting” at things that are false against all his opponents constantly since his campaign started.

LOL! Yeh you keep telling yourself that. Maybe if you say it enough times it will come true.
Except the Dems have the same splitting problem. If we get Trump vs. Clinton, it’ll be one of the most stomach-churning elections of all time, with two people who are two of the most disliked and mistrusted in America.
i’m quite happy with Ted’s showing. Reagan lost a primary too.
2024 will come, and if Trump and Cruz work as well as I think they will (when trump finds out dems have NO intention of bargaining) they will make a good pair and Trump will support Ted in 2024.
of course i’ll be long gone from a coronary for eating what i liked for 30 years ;), but i’ll look down (i hope) and be happy!!
I’m a Trump supporter. Cruz is my second choice.
That being said, I’ll vote for any one of them who will promise (choke, choke, cough, cough, hack, hack) to stop the invasion of foreigners into our country.
I guess that leaves me with only Trump !
Kristol’s a liar, and scammer.
We on the right tend to be more pig-headed, and will cut off our noses to spite our faces. Hell, I admit to it myself. As of right now, I wouldn't vote for Trump, Rubio, or Bush in the general election, and that list is probably not complete.
I'm part of the problem. But at least I admit it.
