Donald Trump is the most electable conservative
Coach is Right ^ | 2/1/16 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

A lot of people are very afraid of Donald Trump. His success will come at their expense because power in politics is a zero sum commodity. What one side gains is always at the expense of the other.

Every day we are presented with twisted and convenient definitions of conservatism from those who desperately don’t want to be on the losing side.

To them, changing one’s mind and acknowledging the value of conservative positions has become a sign of insincere conservatism. They echo the liberal line about Lincoln not being so great because he, “Came late” to the idea of freeing the slaves, without any Self-consciousness. Smug self-congratulation will do that.

“Moving the goal posts,” is another verbal gymnastic trick Trump’s attackers have borrowed from the Left. Thus Trump’s positions never seem to go far enough to satisfy them.

What a conservative candidate should stand for is very clear and Trump holds all of the important positions a conservative such hold.

Trump wants to: close our borders and tighten control over who comes into America;

Built a strong and feared military;

Keep America safe from those who want to kill us; and is not afraid to name them as Muslims;

Spread the pro-life message;

Institute an effective taxing plan that will provide opportunities for America’s recovery;

Deal with the world from a position of strength and regain respect...

You miss the point completely. Trump is well known and as such he is usually within the margin of error with Hillary. That is where you would expect a Republican to be at this time. The other candidates, especially Cruz, are not known so the poll simply reflects and anti Hillary vote.

If you mean as a ‘government official’ he hasn't ever had a seat before, City, Country, State or Federal...so what's your point?

What have you done to accomplish and further conservative or American principles? Do you donate to the Veterans and Wounded Warriors? Have you put on a Veterans parade in New York City because the Veterans didn't have the money to do it, and march right along with them? Have you ever held a Veterans or Wounded Warriors fund raiser and raised 6 million dollars? No, but Trump did...

When your car broke down, and people helped you, did you pay off their mortgage to thank them? No, but Trump did...

While speaking at a rally, did you walk off the stage to a Wounded Warrior and his family in the crowd and talk to him and then make sure he got treatment? NO, but Trump did...

Just what have you done to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN? nothing, that's what I thought...

Not really, but hey you vote your conscience and I’ll vote mine. I have not decided yet if I will hold my nose again for a nominee I do not want in November. My nose is sore.

further conservative or American principles.

When our country was founded our number one American principle was to be a capitalist, create wealth for one's self and others. Trump has exemplified the conservative spirit in word and deed. So, when has it changed that conservatism is now Bible thumping and political weaseling.

I have generally not gotten any responses back from Cruz people spreading outright lies. The moderators have had their hands full lately trying to filter out the ones who are actually paid trolls of unknown origin. They generally engage in hit and run tactics from multiple pseudonyms. They tend to avoid drawn out confrontations that will get them banned.

Up until this latest “shaming mailer” incident I was convinced that many were here specifically for the purpose of fracturing the conservative movement in the party. I thought that maybe part of the over $100,000,000 that the Jebster has gone through might have been dedicated to these types of activities. Now I am not as sure; Cruz himself announced that basically they will not apologize to anyone for any tactic that gets results.

If the other candidates' performance "simply reflects and [sic] anti Hillary vote," then wouldn't it be the case that Trump's performance also reflects whatever anti-Hillary sentiment exists in the electorate? So, Trump is losing to Hillary in the polls, notwithstanding the anti-Hillary vote?

Mine too. The only votes I have not regretted are the ones I cast for Reagan, twice.

And even then, he, nor many people really, had the benefit of history to add to their understanding just how Communism operated, and the liberal principles that pave the way for such. That’s why even though I despise FDR, I can at least give him the benefit of the doubt on a few things. No one has the excuse now with such a well established Marxist history on the pages of world history.

Wow, a "conservative"? To me, he sounds more and more like a liberal, masquerading as a Republican, who intends to advance their agendas should he win.

What is Trump popular for? A sound bite: "Make America Great Again" and nastiness, which seems to delight people who just want to "burn it down"..... similar to Occupy, Black Lives Matter, Anonymous, etc.

I'm a POS for asking what Trump has accomplished to further conservative or American principles?

Responding to a legitimate question with an ad hominem, vulgar, personal attack. Hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder where you picked up that tactic?

I have not had a nominee I like since him either. My vote was a dim prevention vote.
