A lot of people are very afraid of Donald Trump. His success will come at their expense because power in politics is a zero sum commodity. What one side gains is always at the expense of the other.
Every day we are presented with twisted and convenient definitions of conservatism from those who desperately donât want to be on the losing side.
To them, changing oneâs mind and acknowledging the value of conservative positions has become a sign of insincere conservatism. They echo the liberal line about Lincoln not being so great because he, âCame lateâ to the idea of freeing the slaves, without any Self-consciousness. Smug self-congratulation will do that.
âMoving the goal posts,â is another verbal gymnastic trick Trumpâs attackers have borrowed from the Left. Thus Trumpâs positions never seem to go far enough to satisfy them.
What a conservative candidate should stand for is very clear and Trump holds all of the important positions a conservative such hold.
Trump wants to: close our borders and tighten control over who comes into America;
Built a strong and feared military;
Keep America safe from those who want to kill us; and is not afraid to name them as Muslims;
Spread the pro-life message;
Institute an effective taxing plan that will provide opportunities for Americaâs recovery;
Deal with the world from a position of strength and regain respect...

Comparison is the thief of joy.
Theodore Roosevelt
If Cruz is so great, why are so many of you resorting to name calling and outright lies? Smells like desperation to me.
Yep. Lets get er done. :-)

And that is just a partial list of the many, many places a google check should have revealed to you.
That's just a nonsensical response to my post. I wasn't comparing anything. I simply pointed out that, despite posting the other Roosevelt quote (about critics vs. those who do), you could not point to a single thing Trump has accomplished to advance conservative or American principles.
I've called him out, and provided reference links for that damn lie.
We'll see what his response is.
Is he honorable or not? I'm still waiting.
Clearly.
That was an optimistic, issue-driven speech. If you think that speech sounds anything like Trump, you're delusional.
Cruz might carry 5 states.
Then you haven’t been listening to Donald Trump’s speeches. You have been listening to what other people say about Donald Trump’s speeches.
Do you build buildings? Are you a billionaire, world known?
That is who Trump is. What has Cruz done, except ride on others coat tails? In the Senate (that’s why they don’t like him) and was on Trump’s until he got kicked off...Did he win the last debate? NO, Trump did and he wasn’t even there, plus Cruz lies:
Cruz voted FOR TPA at the same time as he was STILL pushing huge increases in H1B visas. He said research shows that immigrants create jobs.
Then he said he did not know that program was being abused. (Although Disney was splashed all over the news.)
—
And he did not know McConnell lied to him about TPA
And he did not know Corker/Iran was not the best we could do.
And he did not know he was a Canadian citzen.
And he did not know he had to file official paperwork on a loan.
And he did not know he should have told Texans in his Senate race that he has a Canadian birth certificate.
And he did not know that Glen Beck is a loon.
And he did not know he did not lose his health insurance
And he did not know he really did not liquefy all his assets
And he is, according to his professor, Alan Dershowitz, off the charts brilliant.
Something does not quite add up, does it,
Yes over time we have. Conservative no longer means conserving our wealth for our own country. Today conservationism means chatting up less spending and moral issues while selling the country down the drain to international interests: open borders, unlimited immigration and subsidies for shipping jobs overseas. Sound like Ted Cruz?
Well, except for universal health care. And amnesty. And gun control. And government surveillance. And eminent domain. And....
Not to mention that the article's claim could have been made of Romney in 2012 - overlooking the minor detail that the ink was still wet on Romney's 'conservatism' as it is on Trump's.
Not the most electable or the most conservative.
He has not even been fully vetted to the American public.
Outstanding post, well worded.
I have watched and listened to many of Donald Trump's speeches. Articulate, optimistic, and issue-driven are not words that come to mind. Reaganesque doesn't come to mind either, for that matter.
He is an accomplished businessman, no doubt (even if he exaggerates his own prowess at times). But that's not what I asked. I asked what he had ever done/accomplished to further conservative or American principles.
What is funny is that the Trump supporters keep making the claim that he is the "most electable", when every poll shows him with the highest negatives, the highest number of voters who absolutely will not vote for him, and the worst performance against both Hillary and Bernie of anyone in the GOP race today.
People were in no way as angry as they are today. Best to look at policy, and when you do you will find that only Trump mirrors Reagan. Reagan was America first, so much so that he put 100% tariff on Japanese electronics to stop them from dumping. Cruz is a globalist cloaking himself in religion. He has already been given the political keys to the kingdom. Just look at his votes when the chips were down.
