Donald Trump is the most electable conservative
Coach is Right ^ | 2/1/16 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

A lot of people are very afraid of Donald Trump. His success will come at their expense because power in politics is a zero sum commodity. What one side gains is always at the expense of the other.

Every day we are presented with twisted and convenient definitions of conservatism from those who desperately don’t want to be on the losing side.

To them, changing one’s mind and acknowledging the value of conservative positions has become a sign of insincere conservatism. They echo the liberal line about Lincoln not being so great because he, “Came late” to the idea of freeing the slaves, without any Self-consciousness. Smug self-congratulation will do that.

“Moving the goal posts,” is another verbal gymnastic trick Trump’s attackers have borrowed from the Left. Thus Trump’s positions never seem to go far enough to satisfy them.

What a conservative candidate should stand for is very clear and Trump holds all of the important positions a conservative such hold.

Trump wants to: close our borders and tighten control over who comes into America;

Built a strong and feared military;

Keep America safe from those who want to kill us; and is not afraid to name them as Muslims;

Spread the pro-life message;

Institute an effective taxing plan that will provide opportunities for America’s recovery;

Deal with the world from a position of strength and regain respect...

Most electable Republican candidate, perhaps. Up until a few months ago, Trump would have been offended to be called a conservative. He’ll hold on to that title until it is convenient to drop it.

Ahh, the universal internet sign for someone who can't back up what they've said.

He is actually the least electable if you consider the recent Gallup poll.

I stopped at the part where Trump was called conservative.

I guess if Trump is conservative, so is Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Ryan, McConnell, et al.
I thought words have meaning, you know, at least to real conservatives.

What's the date of this year's GOP convention?

Either you are woefully misinformed or you are deliberately dishonest.

That People magazine thing has been discredited over and over and over.

He never said it. People magazine didn't print it. Ever.

I'll leave it to you to ask the mod to remove it. Or, alternatively, you can show your true colors.

To the best of my knowledge, Trump is the only one to insist we need to turn the EPA regs back 15 or 20 years because they are killing American business..

ANYONE who thinks Donald Trump is a conservative is delusional, high, or ignorant. I hope you're getting some good smoke.

Thank you genius! You have provided another example of rabid Cruz supporters alienating others who might have eventually supported him.

But answer me this. So why then in last night's Free Republic Caucus were there two and a half times more people supporting Trump as compared to Cruz? Are all of us delusional, high, ignorant, or smoking pot? The truth is that anyone who supports any candidate other than Ted Cruz will be attacked with this same type of garbage by the vocal minority here. Does some psychological study show that this is a good tactic just like sending out “shaming” fliers in Iowa? These awful insults only guaranty that almost no one currently supporting the front runner will ever switch back to Cruz. If you guys really are Cruz supporters then you are seriously socially inept.

"Personally, I don’t really care anymore. Conservative politicians are unicorns. They don’t exist. I want results. The Conservative title carries no weight for me any more. Too many lies. Too many fairy tales."

I concur.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. The least honest posts on this forum appear to come from Cruz supporters. They are getting desperate and many feel that lying is just a means to an end.

i would be disappointed if you could.

i am not sure what i’d think of a FReeper who supported Bush :)

He and Kasich are the two i could NEVER vote for.

if the others have one conservative trait, that’s one more than hillary.

of course cruz and trump are first two choices

Go read this speech by Ronald Regan, and then tell me which one of today’s candidate sounds more like him.

Trump has a chance of taking NY, NJ and PA.

This is one of those bizarro trumpisms I keep seeing on this forum. The trumpeteers just keep repeating this sacred mantra as if it's true, when there is not one single shred of evidence for this anywhere on the planet.

Trump will not win NY or NJ in a million years. I live in NJ and work in NYC - the groudswell for Trump around here is a pothole. It's no different for Cruz, Rubio, or Jeb - but only trumbies ever express the delusion that their guy might.
