Who is Right about Donald Trump's Political Party Affiliations?
January 25, 2016 | Vanity

Posted on 01/25/2016 6:34:25 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

I've seen a photo copy posted on FR threads that purports to prove that Donald Trump has been a Republican since 1980.

"Smoking Gun" has reported that Trump has often changed parties citing the same source - New York City Board of Elections.

I don't know if this New York City Board of Elections information sourced in this article has been added to the mix [showing party affiliation changes on forms signed by Donald Trump] so I'll add it here for discussion.

".......According to the New York City Board of Elections, Trump has changed his party affiliation five times since registering as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987. A form that year notes he had previously been registered in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens, where he grew up, but his prior affiliation was not identified.

Trump's affiliations have gone back and forth since then. Here's a quick look:

Month and year of registration / Party affiliation

July 1987 Republican

October 1999 Independence Party

August 2001 Democrat

September 2009 Republican

December 2011 No party affiliation (independent)

April 2012 Republican

***********************

I also noticed that the listing of Donald Trump's political party memberships is still up on the Donald Trump's Wikipedia page. Since information can and is regularly challenged and corrected, if his party switching has been reported in error, why was it not challenged and changed by the Trump campaign or by one of his lawyers?

Looks like Donald Trump isn’t a natural born Republican. He’s an immigrant to our party, and appears to be a dual-partisan.

I don't particularly care how The Donald was registered. I've lived in DC for many years and have known many VERY conservative Republicans who are registered Democrat simply because we live in a one party town and they want to vote in the primaries.

What raises concerns about The Donald, aside from the bullying and obvious lack of knowledge about the issues, is his reliability. The day before yesterday, he was pro-abortion, pro-fun control, writing checks to Hillary Clinton and boasting about how he bought politicians and won favors for this businesses (i.e. a crony capitalist and proud of it). We are now invited to believe that he has done a complete 180 and can be relied upon not to sell out conservative principles while playing make a deal.

Trump is a crony capitalist, he’s for the party in power.

My hope is over the next few years the GOP has gone the way of the Wigs. The GOPe has paid lip service to conservatives for years prior to elections and then abandoned them post election.

Kinda like Obama’s birth certificate, no?

As a voter in a one-party state, you find yourself switching parties at times just to make your vote relevant or to vote against someone in a close race.

I’m a Texan and deeply conservative (I only have to declare party when voting during each primary season) but I have found the GOP ballot, at times, to be of no consequence so I switched parties to vote the lesser of two evils. I’m sure there are Democrats who have done the same for GOP races.

A man of Trump’s wealth and constant business travel probably is not a regular voter much less a staunch down-the-line party voter. I can accept that. I can also accept a person maturing over 20-30 years as the Democrats have become more dictatorial and less capitalistic.

Like you, I just want the truth. If he’s voted Democrat at times, it doesn’t disqualify him to me. Particularly in new York where there is only one party that ever wins.

That is from Prntly.com, a hoax site. Trump has been everything but a Republican.

Donald Trump has been a Republican since 1980.

Hard to believe a Republican was giving money to:

Joe Biden
Charles Schumer
Anthony Weiner
Hillary Clinton
Harry Reid
Charles Rangel
Dick Durbin
Patrick Kennedy
Frank Lautenberg
Tom Daschle
Ted Kennedy
Chris Dodd
John Kerry
Dick Gephardt
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte
National Leadership PAC (Democrat)

He donated to many other, both republican and democrat candidates and causes. Hard to name another Republican that consistently gave to democrats for decades.

Trump, born in America, Father born in America, Mother, born in Scotland, naturalized citizen of America 4 years before Trump was born, he's been raised in America, has done most of his business in America, is the American Dream...

He built his company by old fashioned American values, work hard, and do things your way...he has built big beautiful American buildings, some casinos, golf courses, and resorts...

He has a family, all business people in their own rights, except for Tiffany, who will be going to law school, and his youngest son...

So he's been democrat, so was Reagan, so were a lot of other people, so there's the “mark of the beast” he was a democrat...guess what folks, what to do we have in the Senate and the House right now, yep you got it: “The Untiparty” oh how horrible is that, they need to be run out on a rail...really?

Who put these people in there? I think it was the ‘Republicans’ that did that, the “Conservative Republicans” that run the House and the Senate...so now what are you going to do? Keep voting them back in or change them? This is up to the American people to decide in their commonwealths and states....

So the meaning of ‘conservative’ has little or no effect on who is who and who is where...the 1950 style of ‘conservatism’ is gone, like the days of 1950, it's a past era...

We need to put America back on her feet, we need to clean out the cesspool of Washington D.C. so Americans, what are YOU going to do, keep it as it is or clean it out by voting these ‘conservatives RINOs’ out? It's your vote, but if you don't do anything about it, then don't complain to us about it, you had your chance...

Being pro-fun control is troubling, but before I up ship I need to know was he for or against fun?

Who cares? The idea that Trump has actually looked outside the corrupt GOP is a bonus!

Have a cousin in FL who has been a registered Democrat since 1962 and has never voted for any dem in any race. Considers it a joke to be Dem and vote Republican. Messes with heads in polls too.

How many times has he already flip-flopped? Asked about signing a pledge not to run 3rd party, how long did it take for Captain Windsock to switch direction?

http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2015/08/07/donald-trump-fox-news-gop-debate-republican-party-pledge-raises-hand.fox-news

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/09/trump-will-sign-gop-loyalty-pledge-213302

Less than a month for the polling data to catch up before Windsock folded like a cheap card table.

Other incidents of complete direction changes (when polls show he was losing ground): Carson and Cruz - speak well of them then attack until decline in polling, attack Megyn Kelly “blood spewing from wherever” then change to “nose”...there are so many, but so little space.
