If you are using Windows you can go to the system restore program and restore your system to last point in time offered just before they accidental download.
What browser are you using? That would be helpful to know.
Google it
Try going to your control panel > all programs (or programs and features) > select ask toolbar > click uninstall.
Googled it. Here are instructions:

It infected me at one point. I think I had to go in and edit the registry to get rid of it. An alternative would be to switch to a different browser.

Depending on your version of Windows, you can generally find it with the START button. Go to all programs, then default programs. When you find the offending program, you can usually get rid of it with a right-click, uninstall utility.
google uninstall ask.com
(you might need to do this from another machine, or your smartphone, if ask.com blocks that search. Lavasoft has what looks like a good page

System restore....Best step my son ever taught this old grandma.
I hate it when BS like that happens. I have learned that whenever I install something to pay attention and not just hit “next” or I’ll get stuck with some sort of malware/bloatware like that.
You’ve picked up a ‘Potentially Unpopular/Unwanted Program’, aka PUP. Download the free Malware Bytes Anti-Malware program. Bing shows the site as www.malwarebytes.org
I learned some years ago not to download anything that even offers a “toolbar.”
In the search box type “create a restore”. Choose that in the menu. When the window opens, highlight “OS (C) System”. Look now for the box that says “System Restore”. Check “Choose a different restore point”. Now look at the dates and choose the most recent one before you downloaded the program. Wait while your pc restores and see if you have deleted the bad program.
If that is all you got then it is not that hard to remove. Just go to control panel/programs then select ask toolbar and click uninstall. Had this a year ago, seems I got it downloading an Adobe update.
Items Needed:
1x 5 gallon can of gasoline (full)
1x Box of matches
1x freshly killed chicken
1x soul of an orphan child
Step 1:
Unplug computer and place in background away from other flammable objects, douse liberally with the 5 gallons of gasoline, Light match and throw match on computer. while computer burn chat to the IT god Ubuntu while shaking the chicken and circle the burnign computer 13 times, then offer the orphan child’s soul to the remaining fire.
Step 2: Buy a New computer.
A very helpful website that I found is-
Whenever you are about to install something to your pc, such as any .exe, you simply upload that .exe file to this website, and it will scan the files for you before you unpack them by way of about 40 different malware scanners.
Some times it can give a false positive, but most times it easily identifies crapware, which is often times packed in with various free downloadable programs, such as junk toolbars, adware, fake virus scanners and things of that nature.
Not necessarily viruses, but nothing that helps you or that you want on your pc.
Upload the .exe for your dictionary to the website page and scan it and see what’s in it.
Unplug the computer and plug it back in again.
After uninstalling, I second running Malwarebits. It’s free and cleaned up a computer at work with a lot of Ask.com crap on it.
People need to read the screens on updates before hitting OK. Updates often have browers and crap on them with default check boxes for downloads.
