TRUMP MOVES TO THE CENTER: I Support Amnesty
Doug Ross @ Journal ^ | Jan. 13, 2016 | Marc A. Thiessen

Posted on 01/14/2016 8:46:53 AM PST by Theo

Trump's supporters loved his promise this week to create a "deportation force" to remove all 11 million illegal immigrants living in America, and his repeated declaration that everyone here illegally will "have to go."

But his supporters tend to overlook is his other promise -- repeated in a recent debate -- that under his immigration plan "they will come back."

That's right. Under Trump's immigration plan almost all of 11 million illegal aliens (save for a small minority with criminal records) will get to return and get permanent legal status to stay here in America.

Trump supports amnesty.

On the Kelly File Thursday, Trump's son Eric expressed frustration that the media overlooks this:

"The point isn't just deporting them, it's deporting them and letting them back in legally. He's been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but its deporting them and letting them back legally."

Eric Trump is right. His father has been crystal clear that he wants all the illegals to return and live in America.

Trump supports letting them come back LEGALLY.

If that means they have to go to the back of the line, then I am fine with that. While Trump did not specifically mention them going to the back of the line, that could be his intention. If he clarifies that point; no problem for me.

Above all Immigration Policy is a matter of National Security. You think ISIS isn’t taking advantage of our lax immigration policies?

Getting them out, and then making them apply to return LEGALLY is not supporting amnesty. What a load of crap, and a typically disingenuous headline.

Thank you, AND he said we would LET THE GOOD ONES BACK IN. This is nothing new, don't know why people are shocked, he's been saying this for several months.

Of course they are.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

If they return to the US legally, and go thru the process to become citizens, yes, they can vote. There are quotas in place, so it would not be a flood as it’s been for the past several decades. They have to have lived here for X years, to have been vaccinated so as not to bring unknown diseases back into the country, they have to take a citizenship test to exhibit an understanding of our country.

Becoming a citizen legally is not an easy thing, nor should it be. I wish some of our native born folks had to take a basic citizenship test like legal immigrants do. And I wish we’d do away with dual citizenship. Immigrants thru the middle of the last century had to renounce their native country citizenship; they should have to do that now.

The best approach is cut-off bennies and punish employers who hire illegals, eventually they will self-deport.

That would be the reasonable thing (and the lawful thing to go after employers) but can you imagine the outcry if that was the plan by those who want them forcefully deported? Just enforce the laws that already exist. If they can't be hired and they can't get welfare, they will go home. Go BIG after the employers, when it costs more than they save by hiring illegals, they won't hire but don't see that ever happening. That will get rid of most anyway and the ones left we can forcefully deport.

Deport them in a big pipeline going out, and a controlled small pipe of them coming back for US employers who can’t find other workers.

Trump is not a dummy. He knows if there is the promise that they can come back “legally” that the plan is more likely to appeal to Democrats and Independents, but it is a ruse. Once they are out they are OUT. Possession is 9/10 of the law. Once out, the Executive branch can put tremendous obstacles and delays in place to SLOW that process to a crawl...make them wait for 2 decades as legal applicants do, for example. And the American people will NEVER agree to let them come back in. Trump knows this very well.

To legally allow them to vote, the left would have to amend the 15th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

How many times we going to discuss the same story? Some of you Cruz supporters seem so desperate. I can’t understand why.

Trump operates in his own self interest. Cheap labor helps his bottom line. And a surplus of labor drives down the cost of labor.
