TRUMP MOVES TO THE CENTER: I Support Amnesty
Doug Ross @ Journal ^ | Jan. 13, 2016 | Marc A. Thiessen

Posted on 01/14/2016 8:46:53 AM PST by Theo

Trump's supporters loved his promise this week to create a "deportation force" to remove all 11 million illegal immigrants living in America, and his repeated declaration that everyone here illegally will "have to go."

But his supporters tend to overlook is his other promise -- repeated in a recent debate -- that under his immigration plan "they will come back."

That's right. Under Trump's immigration plan almost all of 11 million illegal aliens (save for a small minority with criminal records) will get to return and get permanent legal status to stay here in America.

Trump supports amnesty.

On the Kelly File Thursday, Trump's son Eric expressed frustration that the media overlooks this:

"The point isn't just deporting them, it's deporting them and letting them back in legally. He's been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but its deporting them and letting them back legally."

Eric Trump is right. His father has been crystal clear that he wants all the illegals to return and live in America.

I knew that. Can’t wait to see what the trumpees say. Why make them move? It is his pattern of shock and awe - say something to get mega media attention then modify it. Cult of personality.

Amnesty is NOT the “center.”

It is the Left

I have no problem with them coming back and getting in line just like everybody else. Sounds to me that’s what Trump meant.

Legal immigration is allowed under all plans. To imply that Trump is going to ‘catch and release’ is pure liberal spin.

Getting them out, and then making them apply to return LEGALLY is not supporting amnesty. What a load of crap, and a typically disingenuous headline.

Blog pimping.

To legally vote, you must be a US citizen...

That's funny . . . tell that to the 148% of Ohio's Cook County's registered voters who cast ballots in 2012, and the 110% of registered voters here in Cuyahoga County. Read that again, in case you missed the illogical part of it, but it happened.

Dead people, household pets, illegal aliens, felons, prisoners, foreigners will ALL vote in November, AND SOME OF THEM WILL VOTE NUMEROUS TIMES..

AND WHO'S GOING TO STOP THEM? THE STUPID PARTY?

In another recent interview, Trump said we would “expedite” the return of the “good ones”.
Never mind those around the globe who have been doing this legally and waiting in line.
I’d “expedite” them before I would someone who came in illegally, if I were to do any “expediting” at all.

When this was included in the 2007 Bush “immigration reform bill” (the touchback provision), we all rightly denounced it as amnesty.

Somehow, when Trump advocates the same thing, it suddenly is the opposite of amnesty.

When did we all move to Bizarro World?

We’ve gone over this. And over this. And over it again...

Trump has *always* said that they would ALL be deported, then they could get into line and come in legitimately.

Just like every other immigrant. They can apply for visas, then work for their citizenship.

This is not news.

This is WHY his supporters support him. We’ve done our homework, we know his plan, and we like it. This will weed out the criminal element and bring in the higher quality human beings who are good for a nation’s growth.

Yes, that does appear to be what Trump is talking about.

It raises the question of whether having been in this country illegally at any part should be a permanent bar to EVER being allowed to be in this country legally.

It’s a fair question, and a fair debate to have.

I will add though that there is some sense in the notion to holding out to them the hope of eventual legal readmission ( after going to the back of the line) as a carrot to get them to voluntarily leave. The stick being that if they choose to fight being deported and lose, the ban on readmission becomes permanent. It would save the taxpayers an enormous amount of $$$ in legal costs.

Oh, pish posh. Just how long do you think these “now legal immigrants” will go before the left demands they get the right to vote? Heck, the left is now demanding felons get their right to vote back.

How long before we see and hear the left suddenly lurch towards how unfair these newly minted Democrats have it paying taxes without representation. Nope, Trump’s stance is just an elongated process to what the Democrats want.
