Some Thoughts on Something Besides Cruz's Eligibility
11 January | Vanity

Posted on 01/11/2016 6:18:49 PM PST by Shery

Personally, I was shocked when the "queen of conservatism" came out for Donald Trump. Phyllis Schafly has been a conservative icon for so long, and even though I've disagreed with her a couple times in the recent past, I was flabbergasted that she would pick somebody who openly declares that he doesn't see his need of asking God's forgiveness for anything. I realize she predicated her choice on what he claims to be his stand on immigrants, and how he says he will deal with the illegals. However, has she been listening to him or just reading what she wants to hear? He has flip-flopped on the issue so much as to make me throw up my hands and declare "What does he really intend to do...can somebody please explain it to me?" To one group it's this, to another, it's something else. That's not exactly what makes me feel secure about a person's stand on an issue, but with Trump, it doesn't seem to matter.

The other important issue is this. Who will he pick for the Supreme Court? That's THE critical issue that is not being talked about this cycle. Several currently serving are of age to pass on during the next few years. I do not see Trump choosing a conservative. He is not one, so why would he choose one? He is not for defunding Planned Parenthood. He is not a small government guy. He has no plan for anything realistically other than, "We're going to do this, it's going to be fun, and we'll get it done." That's policy? Sounds more like a coach before a kid's baseball game, not a presidential candidate laying out plans.

I feel that this year, 2016 is America's last chance at redemption. Franklin Graham is going to every state to hold a crusade and call for prayer/fasting for our country and this election. The very least we can do is pray and ask God who is the best choice to lead America back to a place where we are morally sound again. Wouldn't we want a real Christian to be that leader? Trump knows noting of the Bible. He doesn't think he needs to read it or live by it. True conservatives are those who see the big picture is more than fiscal conservatism or simply feeding the poor. It is being a leader to help get America back on moral grounds again, as well as leading in the other areas.

My prayer is that Americans wake up to the real battle going on for the souls of men everywhere. Satan is our Enemy and he is winning in America. Pastors have equated running for office with greed, avarice, ungodliness, etc. How do you elect godly men and women if you equate even the godly with he ungodly? Our forefathers never wanted to see the day when the founding principles would be thrown out, trashed, stomped on and godly people reviled. Pastors who shame people from voting will have blood on their hands. Christians who refuse to vote because Jesus is not running have blood on their hands. One can sin through omission as well as commission. Remember that.

A godly leader is marked by a servant attitude, transparent integrity, godly character; a good leader uses gracious words not speech that is like a scorching fire.

As good citizens we should not leave the operation of the government to ungodly men. How can we prevent that? One way is to use our vote wisely. We have the opportunity to vote in the primaries to choose a godly leader. This is an area that most (even Christians) fail at. We will be accountable before God as to how we voted...or not. When we could have done good and refused to, we give the enemy a foot int he door. You may be angry that you don't feel you had much choice, but there is still a choice. More of one if you join the few that actually do turn out for a primary vote. THAT is where YOU can make a big difference.

PLEASE vote in the primaries, and even if your candidate doesn't win, remember the consequences of staying home and letting Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton win.

"Is it true you’re hot for Howard Stern? Oye! :-)"

Like so many of you Trump fangirls are hot for that red-faced, funnel-mouthed old man?

Nope. Thank God I have higher standards than either of them.

Your opinion is not worth the electrons it is printed on.

Why do you even bother to post?

Are you trying to throw the general election to the democrats?

Trump is a democrat.

I don’t vote for lying liberal scum.

Or would you prefer that I lie and say I’ll support his liberal ass anyway?

He’ll still lose but then you’ll have to blame fraud or something.

Yes I’m laughing in your virtual face.

Although there are plenty here that don't believe that, it's fairly clear he is.

There's also a good argument (not saying I buy it whole heartedly yet), that he may be the best candidate we have. His willingness to push the envelope, his lack of timidity, his capacity to take the heat, to take on the democrat/media complex hasn't been seen in one of our candidates since Reagan. Lots of examples of that, the most recent with his shot against the bow of the Clinton machine was epic.

He pushes, and wins. He knows how to play the media. No one is doing it like he is. No one.

Those who accuse Trump of being a Democrat need to know that of all the Republicans in this race, only two of them are espousing consistently conservative views and that is Trump and Cruz.

Frankly, if Trump was running as a democrat (since right now there is no difference in the two parties), I’d probably register as a democrat just to vote for him.

There is the Uniparty and there is Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

I’ll vote for either of them in the general, however Trump’s going into the gutter on the NBC issue has me fuming right now. The problem is that if he really had that position, then he could not pick Cruz as his running mate.

Undoubtedly Cruz is going to be asked about this in the next debate. Since he is unquestionably the best debater who ever ran for president and one of the best legal minds around, his answer should satisfy anyone with an open mind.

Open minds, however, seem to be in short supply around here.

The last line of your post doesn’t comport with your tagline.

There is a vetting going on over this NBC issue that could well satisfy Trump and have him pick Cruz as his running mate. FWIW, that means Trump won't pick someone who'd hurt the ticket. IOW, he wants to WIN. That could NOT be said of McCain and Romney.

I know you are solid Cruz, but I am solid Trump/Cruz or Cruz/Trump. I could default to Santorum, Paul, Carson, or (holding my nose) Rubio. But I will not vote for Christie. He was under zero pressure to sign the bill forbidding parents getting counseling help for their homosexual children. NONE of the other candidates have done anything like that even remotely...not even Bush.

You think you’re high school crap is cute. It’s not. Now I always knew why you targeted me. Now everyone else will know it too.

Your credibility is shot here now. Forever.

How’s that working out for you?

You snowed some people, some of whom I consider friends, and that pisses me off. But it’s just a message board.

Yeah, I will reply to you and everything you post to someone else. You pissed me off and harassed me but you did something far worse. You hurt people I care about and I will never forget that.

How’s that other board working out for you?
