The man who practically invented alter egos has departed planet earth.
RIP, David Bowie, whoever you were; and thanks for the memories:
Around here, where alter egos abound, weâve been Bowie fans for a long time. Remember this golden oldie, still gracing my sidebar, from my early days as Lady Mâs Mirror Of The United States:
Just think, without Ziggy Startdust, there might never have been a Madonna, Lady Gaga or President Obama. Not that thereâs anything inherently wrong with alter egosâ¦butt I guess thereâs a downside to everything.
Dedicated to the proposition that change can be a good thing, in the right hands: âJust gonna have to be a different man.â
âMy God! Itâs full of stars!â
RIP David Bowie. Hope you are in a better place now.
“I am a DJ, I am what I play....”
Rest in peace.
The lyrics to his apocalyptic “Cygnet Committee” are more timely than ever, perhaps in ways he wasn’t thinking at the when he wrote them.
I saw the Spiders from Mars tour at the Orlando Jai Alai fronton in Fern Park - 1973, I’m thinking. Great venue in those days.
Diamond Dogs was the last LP I liked.
One of my all time favorites. He was eccentric but his late 70’s and 80’s hits are on the top of my playlist. Very sad day.
I thought I saw you
In an ice cream parlor
Drinking milkshakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
I don’t think you knew you were in this song
MFLR.
We talk about the lyrics and the music, however the man had a beautiful voice. His drummer boy with Bing Crosby is amazing.
What a waste of bandwidth.
With his life style I alway thought he’d catch “the Bug” and it would take him out, not cancer.
Talented artist. RIP Ziggy
Yeah, clicking on threads you’re not interested in is kind of pointless.
There are a lot of other non-political threads here that don't interest me and I just stay off of them.
Isn’t there some MTV groupy forum you can all cry on. This forum is about politics.

Pop culture drives politics as much as anything else. I think discussing pop culture when it comes to the passing of culture icons is a relevant matter.
