WOW! Mizzou Coach Gary Pinkel GRILLED By Sports Radio Host Following Team’s Race Boycott

Mizzou Coach Gary Pinkel held his first interview today after tweeting out his support for the Concerned Student 1950 social justice group on Monday.

On Monday Coach Pinkel tweeted out that the Mizzou football team stood as one.

Today Coach Pinkel went on with Kevin Kietzman of Sports Radio 810 for his first interview since the threatened boycott by his players. Kietzman absolutely grilled the Mizzou coach for the stand he took in support of the campus social justice warriors. Info Blizzard reported on the contentious interview.

Kudos to Kietzman for this amazing interview!

The interview got awkward really quick. Then Pinkel got upset and lost it.

Kietzman asked Pinkel what he thought of the university leaders, who hired him, being forced to resign. Pinkel would not answer.

Kietzman continued: What do you think about your defensive end saying, “All the athletes across the country now have the power to do this.”

Gary Pinkel: “That’s his opinion, yes.”

This was amazing radio. Pinkel cancelled his remaining interviews for the rest of the day. The interview is seven minutes and it is great from beginning to end.

He does not impress. I would like to see him fired.

I listened to the interview, but I’m not a sports guy so I don’t quite know how to interpret these kinds of interviews.

The coach was grilled, and it seems a little unfairly, but it sounds like the only one who ‘lost it’ is the writer of the column, Jim Hoft.

I guess my racist, biased, old bones just can’t get the gumption up to care when a certain race is 10% of the Student population, 50+% of the Football team, (probably) at least 80% of the Basketball team.

Yet, the Student Body President and Homecoming King were members of this downtrodden group.

Funny(?? NOT HA HA FUNNY??) how the Middle School in SF CAL had a big todo when whites were a 10 or 20% of the group and the exact same circumstance in regards to elections took place and ‘they’ thought it was the end of the world.

Coach take heed - Once upon a time if a team enmasse decided to sit ANYTHING out it really didn’t happen because they knew the bottom line.

Now that a rag tag outfit got the #1 and #2 to leave because of their ‘protest’, how stable is YOUR job if they decide you yelled at them or made them run that extra lap and ‘they’ figure the days of your being a martinet are finished?

His team knows they will most likely lose their last three games and needed a reason to skip practice. They are probably disappointed the President stepped down so quickly.

My guess is that this will hurt recruiting efforts, fundraising from alumni, and enrollment. Even if this garbage happens at other schools, who wants to go to a school where they are promising increased diversity training?

“Pandering to whiners is always a losing proposition.”

Yeah, but I’m betting most of the protesters were “soft science” majors. Bet there weren’t many engineering, computer science, business majors involved. So, I suggest that the university separate the soft science schools from the those who actually offer degrees worth the paper they’re written on. Those in the SS schools, automatically give everyone all A’s, let them practice all the PC crap to their hearts content, then award them a degree in four years or three if they want, wish them good luck and be done with them. They will be astonished to find that no one will hire them at a scale above minimum wage, except the federal government of course. They made their bed, let them sleep in it.

Good luck trying to coach a team that knows it can just get you fired at any moment.

Their football program is most likely headed for some hard times.

Trying to protect his job, nothing more nothing less.

Not much of a job that holds him hostage to a group of transient low IQ black thugs.

He proved that he no longer has authority as a moral man and as a coach. The thugs have his number and the team performance will plummet even more with the attendant calls for new coach. Hope the memory of his groveling keeps him warm for the rest of his life. Cowards dying a thousand deaths and all that.

Does anyone even know if all the protestors are full-time students at Missouri?

Sadly you are mistaken as the federals require affirmative action hires regardless of qualifications; been there, seen that!

Since the chilrn are now running the show at the University of Missouri, I wonder if Gary Pinkel can even call plays now. At least without consulting the cilluns.

Can anyone here even imagine how you would feel if you spent thousands in borrowed money for your kid to go there?

Their football program is most likely headed for some hard times.

Should have stayed in the Big 12 minus 2. SEC has proven too tough for them.

The bigger picture here is that college football players generate a ton of revenue for an NCAA Division I school, and because of this they can effectively run the school if they want to.

Once this group of players threatened to boycott the next game, the president was gone. The University of Missouri -- and the conference they belong to -- would have gotten themselves involved in a huge financial/legal mess with the TV network (CBS, I think) that pays tens of millions of dollars to broadcast their games.

The more interesting angle of this story is that NCAA players all over the country can now see themselves staging a similar type of "strike" for any reason whatsoever -- and getting pretty much any results they want.

“Trying to protect his job, nothing more nothing less.”

Exactly. As I was listening, all I could think of was “What is he thinking and NOT saying here?” Does he walk past his players and fear how they might interpret his words and actions? Does he walk past his players and think, “What a bunch of wusses?” Does he walk past his players and think he has their respect?

White America please wake up! While there may be racism at work in precincts throughout the land (practiced in both directions, by the way), remaining silent does not buy you the peace, or even the equality you want. Falling before the great big railroad operation that is race politics today accomplishes nothing but getting your legs cut out from under you.

Correct.

If Pinkel were a man about it, he should have started the second or third string for the game and benched the starters.

If even they were stupid enough to go along with this, he should have contacted the alumni and boosters, explained the situation to them, and forfeited the game.

The alumni would do something then to discipline the team.

Pinkell has lost control of the team. It was obvious when the “unnamed” player went to ESPN and state4d that about half of the team does NOT support the proposed boycott and Pinkell went public stating they are united in agreement and support.

I suspect other college administrations will be hesitant to grant an interview to a coach who so publicly stabbed his prior administrators who hired him in the back. After all, Pinkell is not a “legend” ala’ Bryant, Hayes and Paterno. He will NOT have the Mizzou job for life.

Mizzou gets what they deserve from this.
