The Republican Party establishment will be jumping to Ben Carsonâs defense this week. So will a few Democrats and a few media people. They would all love to see Carson as the Republican nominee because they know he would lose massively to their favorite felon Hillary Clinton. Jumping to support Carson plays right into the hands of those who want to see her as the next president.
It is all so simple.
The Democrat controlled media hates Republicans and hates Black so-called conservative Republicans even more. Such people destroy their lies and make them look like the frauds they are.
It is precisely for this reason that it is not tactically wise to rally around Carson now that he is undergoing the mediaâs anal examination that was to be expected as he began to rise up the polls.
A dispassionate review of what Carson brings to the table, his lack of substantive ideas at best, bad ideas and crazy beliefs at worst, makes him the best hope the media has of electing their favorite felon.
ââ¦.Herman Cain destroyed by outright lies made up by Chicago thugs. They killed his chances of advancing and stopping Barack Obama. That got us an empty suit named Mitt Romney who ran a halfhearted campaign and lost. America cannot survive another Democrat president.
Our future is on the line in this next election. If we choose to use our nomination as an exercise in breast beating piety and nominate Carson to prove we hate the media but not Black people, we will be making a tragic mistake.
Carson would be eviscerated by savagely bias media who will use his own words against him. They will not have to make things up.

I’m going to have to disagree with Coach on this one. As I suspected Carson is not standing up under scrutiny. He is a weak candidate with poor stances on the issues and screwball ideas that just are not desirable in a presidential candidate. Ben Carson would be a disaster if he were ever allowed to become President. He would stand no chance agains’t Hillary Clinton. Hopefully he will begin to fade and I’m sure his next debate performance will help that along.
“Carsonâs statement is very clear.”
He does seem TOTALLY DELUSIONAL in that interview since he still thinks he was really offered a “full scholarship” to West Point.
The USUAL REASON someone fabricates military experience, or something related to military experience, is that it looks better when panning for votes, particularly if you were a dreg after high school. “Yes, my opponent may have served in Army for 4 years, but I was a Seal for 6 years”. If they get caught, it’s lights out for them...if not, a statement like that may win them the office.
In Carson’s case, he has his entire career as a surgeon to be VERY PROUD OF - he had NO POLITICAL REASON to fabricate this, which is why he seems delusional, still thinking it really happened.
Offered and accepted are not close to being the same.
Frankly, I regard the lying scumbags in the media to be the ultimate enemy, and we shouldn’t empower them, even if it might seem to go strategically for or against a preferred candidate. Their evil work and the harm they do spreads far beyond a single election.
Just like in that last debate, when Cruz finally turned the tables on the snarky, sarcastic questioning, and the whole group of candidates bandied together against the media... that shifted an entire dynamic. That’s where the power lies. The key to it all.
I agree with your take. Too much is being read into this whole debacle.
Politico’s game is despicable and unacceptable. However journalists throw mud on all the candidates. In many cases some of the mud sticks because its justified.
When you tell falsehoods or twist the truth you leave yourself open to being exposed and vilified. By lying you strip yourself of the protection of the higher ground.
Sarah Palin was vilified without having lied or having committed any wrongful action. She was able to take the fight back to the journalists. While some of the accusations about Carson are false he did provide the opportunities for these attacks with serial misstatements and by pontificating about areas where he had no expertise and/or had not looked into the issues. He would be a disaster as a President, exposing all America to the blowback from his loose talk and undisciplined method of evaluation.
OK...so what is the issue with the video?
“Trump has really done irreparable damage to the once-principled conservative movement.”
principled conservative movement? We have not had a principled conservative since Reagan. That is thirty years ago.
and those that were deemed qualified, how's that worked out? He is a citizen statesman, successful in his franchise/profession, a neurosurgeon no doubt yet he is"unqualified" ? Look Carson is not my guy however his appeal is precisely the counter-argument you make. He is infinitely qualified as are many other Americans. The system was not setup so only lawyers and PR experts can run and exercise politics. It is refreshing to see his appeal and let him be measured on his ideas and thinking but the man is immensely qualified.
It does make you wonder about the reliability of his back story. He seems like he has done a lot of good in his life and has been a role model. I think it may be a “Peter Principle” situation. Successful people are often insecure and that flaw makes them vulnerable and with the need to bolster their resume. True self assurance and self knowledge is a valuable and a rare commodity.
Take a seat on the bench, coach.
Most of us are smart enough to know the difference between
defending a Republican against a phony MSM onslaught and
supporting that candidate for office. If Trump was an
authentic confident LEADER he would be out front right
now defending Carson. That could be a boost to his image
and an improvement over the usual playground name calling
which Trump has allowed to define himself.
“Offered and accepted are not close to being the same.”
Exactly, that was my point. The Politico MUFFED IT on purpose...took a bullet on purpose to prop up Carson and get his delusion of even being ‘offered’ a full scholarship off the table.
...seems to be working here.
If Ben Carson was NOT black he would have never been a POTUS contender ... Am I a racist for saying that ? No.
I don't even understand your problem with that video.
To me the issue can be settled by the question of motivation. It seems clear that Carson’s intent was to convey that he had been offered a spot at West Point. He had not been offered that.
I don’t know why everyone is in such an outraged tizzy to defend a man who was not being truthful.
He just seems to be always wanting that next Boy Scout badge, or ROTC badge so proudly worn in that parade (nothing wrong with that)just that he seems at the ready for whoever will see him and make him an offer, he knows full well back then that Blacks had the AA going for them.
I'm sure his mother encouraged him to use any method available to advance, nothing wrong with that. I do admire his mother for MAKING him become something, and not living in the GHETTO madness, maybe why he attacked her as perhaps the street looked more fun to him.
I am beginning to get the feeling now, that someone put a suggestion in his ear to run for president as that would be the ultimate Baddest BADGE of all. Feeding on his EGO and naivety now. Much the same way as that someone (Westmoreland & others) selected him to go to West Point, and we can make it happen, their motives being good I'm sure.
But now, those someone's being either GOPe or DNC......both have motives to make a fool out of whomever they choose to loose, knowingly know that Carson is very naive and can be used because they know that Carson wants that one more Badge.
JMO and thoughts...
Totally wrong. If you want Trump to win more than just the primary you had better start showing some respect to the other candidates. Their supporters are the people Trump (if he should win) will need to win over for the general election. If you make an enemy of 70% of republican voters not supporting Trump in the primary, you will have no chance at winning the general.
Besides, right and wrong are stand alone things. The liberal attack on Carson is just wrong.
Keep in mind, I have spent hours defending Trump yet I am not voting for him.
We Americans have higher standards than thatâ¦
While YOU might have higher standards, and I might - or might not - have higher standards, "Americans" have generally had low standards in these matters at least since Thomas Jefferson drank the French poison. My dad taught American History for 30+ years, and he always said that Americans really don't mind vituperation as long as they think it will work for "their guy." FWIW, anything said about Ben Carson so far pales into nearly transparent milquetoast blandness compared to what was said either about or on behalf of Andrew Jackson.
The powers that be are playing for bigger stakes, have a bigger bag of tricks, and are interconnected to an extent that would not have been possible in years past, but in may ways, the dirty tricks and the language are not nearly as robust as in the "good old days." Rick Wilson and Kevin Williamson (both nominally Republicans) have come close to the old, crude ways in their remarks about Trump (and I think Melania should be allowed to give Kevin a swift kick in the slats), but all of what is going on with Carson in the past 48 hours? It is pretty tame stuff, though not without benefit to the GOP-e.
Watch who benefits from this. In the long run, it will not be any of the "outsiders."
